E93 OBD socket broken

Hello friends,
Today my state inspection failed because the OBD socket is broken. Most probably BMW did it when I got the oil changed and they did some inspection on the car 6 months back.

I searched a lot but didn't get any satisfactory answers.
Can someone please tell me if its easily replaceable or I need to take out the side panel and replace the whole socket with wiring?
Any battery disconnection required?
I'm going to search on you-tube later tonight when I go home.

Thanks for the help.
Here are the pictures.

I'm on mobile so I can look when I get home, but there was a thread on this exact problem about 2 weeks ago.

The housing part number is 61136954580.

Removing the pins from the broken housing is a pain though, you need to either buy a tool to remove the pins, or make up one (I used 2 drywall knife blades ground down to fit inside the housing)

Here is a posting showing removing the pins from the housing.

You need to remove the side panel to get at the port. I'd unplug the battery just to be careful (I didn't and ended up blowing a fuse shorting some of the wires together by accident)

Yea, there are wires in the socket that are always hot - unplug your battery before tinkering.

Thanks man, this is really helpful. I will look for the part and will keep in mind your guidance if I do it myself.

Quick update - I managed to get the part replaced from BMW. They only charged me for the part $25 and no labor
