Paint thinner? Not sure if that poses any risk to the plastic or not. Personally I'd reward the place that did it for their sloppy workmanship by letting them fix it.

I would bring it back to the shop that painted the rear bumper and have them removed

I ve read people removing paint with nail polish remover but if you apply too much you could damage it.... You could also sand it down with very fine sand paper ( 1500 or more) but again you could do more damage....

I used MEK to removed paint from my door frames and it worked wonders , I didnt even have to rub it too much but I wouldnt do it on my car unless it was a shitt y car...

If it is just some overspray, you might be able to get it off with a clay bar.

I'd say use a razor blade and just carefully chip away at it, depending on how much is actually on the tail light. If it's a lot, then go back to the body shop and bitch at them for doing such crappy work.

Gasoline. My YouTube channel I have a video up on how to do it. Make sure you tape down your painted surfaces and use a sealant on the tail light once removed.

rubbing compound and mix with a little bit of gas, just don't put it on the paint area.

A metal razor blade against a plastic lens is guaranteed to do damage. I definitely wouldn't recommend going that route.

By the way, OP, any shop worth their salt should have removed the lights from the trunk lid before painting it, IMO. Only takes a minute and then there'd be no risk of leaving an exposed edge in the new paint that could start flaking off later.

I'm really disappointed the shop I took it too did an incredible job matching the color and they come HIGHLY recommend in the area. I know people that have used them before and had great results and it's where the local BMW dealer sends all their cars. I ended up having it painted twice because the first time left a mark on the deck lid and now I don't quite like the results either because there are spots that you can tell it was painted. A few lines by one of the lights and where they taped off by the lights above the license plate you can tell if you look underneath. I don't want it re done again because I can live with this and I fear they'll only mess up something else. Live and learn I guess, I thought I made a good choice they got rave reviews by friends and online also 5 star by tons of people and the only cars there are late model Germans. I guess you just never know /:

As for the paint on the light it's not even enough to scrape off it's very light and transparent about the side of a penny. Tried nail polish removed didn't work. Maybe compound/clay bar/ gasoline? Thats what I'm hearing? I don't wanna go back to the shop, they did enough damage in my opinion.

I agree, I wouldn't want that shop to touch my car again, but you should bring it back and give them the estimate to fix the tail light and let them pay for it

Definitely start with mechanical removal (scrape and/or rubbing compounds). Then proceed to solvents. And finally finish it off with fine plastic polish.

With solvents acetone is the best, but it can haze some plastics. Test your taillight lens in an inconspicuous area for acetone resistance (this applies to all solvents, actually). Acetone is safe on fully cured car paint and clearcoat, but it might haze fresh coats. Since you just had it painted, you have to remember that. (In any case, acetone "stains" are easily fixable with polish.)

Acetone (nail polish remover)
Or
Eucalyptus oil (works a charm for oil based paint on walls) lol

Try those options.
