Porsche forum?
I've been playing with the idea of getting a weekend toy in addition to my 335i. I've always loved 911's and I am thinking about finally getting one. Has to be a 997 and has to be a manual. I wanted to do some research and read up on some forums but I don't know any good Porsche forums and I'm not finding much on google other than "rennlist". I know a lot of people here either have one or have had one at one point, so if anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

Speaking from experience rennlist is by far the best technical Porsche forum out there. Lots of very knowledgeable people on there who are willing to answer questions. Many wrench their own cars and speak from experience. 6speedonline is also great but I found 6speed was more about how the car looked. Also check out renntech.org. Lots of DIY material.

I recently sold a 996 and was in the same boat as you before I found what I wanted. Read up on IMS and RMS issues and know what to do as preventative maintenance for these cars and you will be extremely happy. The 911 handles like its on rails and sounds amazing!!!
IMS issues are on both 996 and 997 models. If you have any questions shoot me a pm

I know you said it has to be a manual. I love my 6-speed Cayman S, smooth and solid as a bolt action rifle. I am seriously considering PDK in my next Porsche. I drove a PDK Cayman R at VIR and it had me wanting more of that. You should take a PDK test drive, even if it's just for amusement.
