335d 80-120 km/h time
Does anyone know the 80-120 km/h time for the 335d in both 5th and 6th gear? I can't seem to find this info anywhere....
Thanks! |

Well, it's auto, but there's a manual shift option.
I can time it tomorrow with my wrist watch on the way to work :-)

This article says 7.2s for 80-120 is 6th gear, but it's been remapped to approx. 340bhp. Mine's remapped too, but only to about 330bhp.
I'll still try to measure it in the morning for you.

Is it possible that the 330d with those figures was a manual, and that the gearing is different?

Testing procedure:
I used my paddle shifters to put the car in 5th and 6th gear and I floored the gas on 80km/h (without touching the kick down button). I did each one 3 times and you're seeing the best of the three times. 6th gear 80-120km/h: 7.2s 5th gear 80-120km/h: 4.7s This is actually hard to do on the motor way :-)

Well I didn't do 4th:-)
It's harder than you think when there's plenty of traffic. I'll try tomorrow morning :-)

Are you serious ?
You do realise that 6th gear at 49 mph the engine is doing say 1150 rpm ? In auto mode, the gearbox would change down to 5th as soon as you used anthing other that a trailing throttle. Real world examples would be in 5th and more likely fourth gears. |

I did 4th gear this morning.
Again the testing procedure was the same as mentioned before. Results for 4th gear (80-120km/h): Attempt 1: 2.1s Attempt 2: 2.0s Attempt 3: 2.0s On my way home today I'll try lowest possible gearing. That is starting in third and flooring it.

The porsche 911 turbo with 480hp and 620Nm (680Nm for 10s) does it in 3.5s in 4th gear (tiptronic) so you must have one hell of a machine

Alright, I'm ready with the real numbers.
The numbers for 4th gear were indeed too fast. I must've accidentally measured 80-100 km/h and not 80-120km/h. However, on the way home tonight I measured 3rd and 4th gears respectively. I actually managed 120km/h in third gear which surprised me a bit. 4th gear (80-120km/h) 4.1s 4.2s 4.1s 3rd gear (80-120km/h) 3.2s 3.3s 3.2s

you are both absolutely right; it was my mistake from the beginning; i should have asked for 80-120km/h time only for 4th and 5th gear not 6th; sorry! this being said, we can easily conclude that your car is damn fast for having 4.7s and 4.1s for 5th and 4th gear! |
