Question Vanos bolt Recall n55 ?

For those who took their car in for the vanos bolt recall how long did it take for them to fix it?

The job itself I think only takes a couple of hours, but they say there are three tier's of repairs depending on the severity so time is probably relative to repair requirements. The kicker is they have to do it with a cold engine so unless you get it towed there in the AM, it will most likely be a next day turnaround, thats how mine went.

Good Luck.

I took mine in at 8:30AM, it was done by the middle of the day. With an oil change, too! There were no specific problems with mine, just a simple bolt swap. This will be the majority of the cases.

It's also pretty nice because you get a brand-new valve cover gasket, so that's another free 100k miles of no leaks. My E46's started to plasticize around the late 90k mark.

They had mine for a couple of days because my bolts actually broke off into my oil pan. They had to remove the oil pan and all. So I guess it depends if yours break or not.

Yeah this is the worst case scenario the guy at the dealership was talking about, which he said was extremely rare. Hope it didn't cause too much damage.

Some dealerships are giving $50 gift cards to people that bring their cars in.

No, I just put my VIN# into the BMW recall notification site online, saw it wasnt fixed yet on my car as I bought it used about 3 months ago, and made an appointment later that week.

I dropped my vehicle off the night before work was to be performed. I got a call the next day around 11:30am saying the work was complete - so about 4 hours.

Depending on your schedule (and theirs),I think it's safe to say one business days (but only a couple hours to do the work). If they find the bolt has broken, the job may take longer. If you're a working man, I suggest getting a loaner and asking them for a 435 ;D

My bolt was said to be loose per the work order. I was given a new vc gasket, an umbrella, air freshner, some flyers, and a bunch of finger prints all over the car since I turned down their car wash lol.

Mine took two days. They rented me a Nissan Altima because they didn't have any "loaners" left. It was horrible.

Got mine done. Took 2 days before i got my car back. They gave me a 2014 328i for a loaner. Also got a bag, coffee mug and air freshener as a gift. Funny thing is though, when i run my vin number it still says i have the vanos recall on my car even though it's been done....

Took mine in two weeks ago. No issues pre-recall. Car stayed overnight because the motor must be stone-cold before work is started, so I took home a 320i loaner. The next day, all was done with a bag in my front seat containing a BMW bear and a BMW air freshener vent-clip. No issues since the repair.

They did mine over a 2 day period when I was having a muffler replaced and some other small stuff. So an estimate of no more than 1 day is probably pretty good. Mine was not broken.

My car went into Limp Mode while on the highway. Drove it to Kuni BMW, they couldn't get me a loaner for a week, and were pricks to me in general (I didn't buy the car there, but that really shouldn't matter). Fuck 'em. Had the car flat-bedded to BMW of Portland on BMW's dime from Kuni's parking lot. They got me into a loaner that day, had the car for two, and sent me a $50 BMW gift card for their parts department as well. Top notch service and communication the entire time.
