Power Steering fluid flush questions

I am doing Power Steering fluid flush today, turkey baster method. I filled it to the max line as pointed by the arrow, then after driving around for a while the fluid rises way above the max line. Is that an overfill? What is the correct level to fill to when cold?

Since lock to lock actions are required after each fill, I practised parallel parking, is there any down side by doing so?

Also, what does clean CHF 11S look like? The fluid I extracted the second time still looks very dark. (on the left)

turkey baster method is a waste of time in my opinion, it just gets the reservoir. thats probably why the second time looked so dark still.

there are two hoses going to the reservoir, one pumps fluid back into it, the other sucks it out. its a loop.

when i change my fluid, i unhook the return hose that pumps back into the tank and i place that return hose into a clear container like a milk jug. i have a friend start the car and it will instantly suck the fluid out of the reservoir like normal and send it to the power steering rack, when it returns it shoots it into the clear container i set up, (I keep it topped up with the brand new fluid as it sucks it up). once it is shooting clear fluid out the return hose into my clear container, I know i have flushed all the fluid. Basically i let the car do all the work. Dont let it run dry and suck air.

forgot to answer the original question. no, you fill to the lower line when it is cold, when it is hot it should be up at the upper line.

if you fill to the upper line when it is cold, then it will be over when it gets hot (which is what is sounds like you did).

I'm going to guess the upper one is the return - Mike can you confirm?

Also, how do you stop the flush process - just turn the car off?

yea the upper one is the return.

i usually take the two bolts out of the reservoir bracket so i can get working room.

and yup, when the car is shutoff, it stops pumping.

I think i just squeezed it and it comes undone, then used pliers to resqueeze it back together. It's like a crimp style clamp right?
