Clearing Service Engine Soon Light?

How can you clear this light without an OBDII reader/scanner? Will unplugging the battery for 10 mins reset it? Thats what I used to do on my old car.

Buy a scanner, or go to Pep Boys or Autozone. They usually will pull and clear codes for free.

Well I was trying to avoid that lol. Thats why I was asking if I unplug the battery will reset it. I've been to autozone before to clear codes.

The battery disconnect usually works on most cars. Don't know on this one. Maybe someone in your area on the local forums will have one and help you out.

Disconnecting the battery will NOT clear or remove the SES light on a modern BMW.

Hey Steve!

Yes, I do remember you. Yeah I asked Marco who's car that was and told it was yours. I love the car! All I have is a chip so far and loving it!

I got mine this past june and have had the procede on it since july/august. hopefully this week ASR will be coming up to Marco's with some V2 harnesses. I've been trying to get one for 2 months now.

What chip do you have?

Usually if you remove something like a fuse by mistake when the car is on or start the car without it being back in it's "home" it'll throw a code, then once you put it back it should just take a few starts of the car. could take minutes, could take hours. 9 out of 10 times though if the car is put back to "normal" all the codes will go away.
