Broken Cupholder

Have you ever broke your cupholder and got it fixed at the dealer? I broke one of them before but fixed it myself and now my brother broke the other one and i don't feel like spending 30mins to an hour trying to fix it again. Does anyone know if a dealer will do it for free? If they won't i guess i'll have to fix it again

Yeah, a friend of mine broke my cupholder. I went to the dealer to get my car serviced an asked if they could fix it, they replaced it with a brand new one for me, no charge.

WHile we're on the topic, aren't the E9x cupholders just the stupidest things you ever saw?!?! Why not have two in the center console area like every other car in the world?? I know, I know, europeans make fun of us "yanks" for our cupholder obsession, but if you're going to offer them you might as well make them as convenient as possible! Rant over.....

Agreed! The cup holders in the e9x are useless...which is too bad, since I used to use them a lot in my old car. On the brighter side, since I never use them now, less of a chance for me to spill something in the car!

well, I have to disagree.. the e9x cupholder is not THE dumbest idea.

I sat in a Porsche 997 before and its cupholder (dash mounted, like the E9x) can't even fit a Starbucks coffee.. now that is dumb...

Yes they can, you just have to open them up (after reading the hard to understand manual). For the first few months, I used the ones in my 987 (which are the same as 997) entirely wrong, the cup would swing from side to side because I didn't know to close the trim back on it locking it in place .

That being said, I wish the e9X were more hidden like in Porsches, I've had people hit it with their knees and spring it out. I can't figure out if the cup holder or the seat belt assistant will be the first to get broken. I'm knind of betting on the cup holder though.

I use mine very seldom. Usually just on a long drive for a water bottle or Starbucks coffee. I only wish they were a bit deeper. Anything top heavy will fall out when you corner. Otherwise I'm fine with them.

20oz bottle of mt dew fits great, and stayed put through a couple power slides. No complaints, but I can see them getting torn off at some point.

I actually love the push-in-and-way flush cupholders. Genius.

My nephew knocked the passenger side one out with his knee - dealer replaced it free, no questions asked.

Maybe not the greatest design in the world, but on a manual transmission car drinks in the center console usually get in the way of shifting. At least that was true on the last few cars I had, so I kind of like the positioning. Console might be good for automatic transmissions, less so for manuals.

the cupholders are in the worst position especially if you have a passenger. just go to the dealer they will replace them for you. there is a TSB about stuck ones; just claim its stuck.
