The magnusen act (I think it's called) protects you here, to an extent. They can't say the JB4 somehow caused your headlights to stop working. But if you bring it in for a misfire, or engine related issue, they may say the JB4 caused it. If you challenge their claim, they have to prove the Jb4 caused the failure.

Basically, it will void your CPO warranty on a specific part, if it's a component that is changed, or altered by the JB4 itself per se.

Best bet would be to remove the Jb4 before bringing the car in, if you REALLY need the warranty to cover whatever broke. Map 0 for routine service should be adequate, although even with it on 0 they can tell it's there apparently. Plus it'll take a tech 5 minutes to open the DME cover.

Just take it off, once you get good at removal and reinstallation it doesn't take long at all. Leaving it on isn't worth the fight with the dealership.

Should I take it off even for maitnence? Oil change ect,

The Magnuson Moss Warranty Act does exactly what you state but the problem is that the dealer/BMW can and will give you a firm no if they find a tune on just about everything. It will then be up to you and your team of lawyers to battle BMW in court to prove that your mod had nothing to do with the failure.

Yeah, especially when BMWNA more than likely has better lawyers than we could hire. Plus the costs associated would outweigh the benefit more than likely.

Depends on your dealer to be honest. Plenty of people have had no problems bringing their car in with a tune and FBO. Just put your jb on map 0. My service adviser once asked if he should fill my windshield wiper fluid since someone else who brought their car in used it as a meth tank.

Some dealers don't care, others may.

If you don't know, take it out for anything and everything.

If you do decide to leave it in, which I don't recommend, at least leave it on map 0.
