BMW Performance Steering Wheel

So I was paging through the BMW site and noticed this steering wheel. Has anyone purchased this thing? It looks pretty badass but pretty impractical if you aren't gonna track your car. What do you guys think?

Nothing better than trying to explain to your significant other why you need a $2000 steering wheel.

Well, for that it might be worth losing heated steering... Besides the alcantara doesn't get cold

But if they don't see the bill or the installation, how many of us is married to a person who would know or could spot the switch?

I wanted it but in the end the HUD makes it redundant enough to make the cost hard to justify.

you can get it for about 800$ without the electronic display .. so only alcantara and the CF trim which is ok I guess .. but I hate loosing functionalty like heated steering wheel ^^ same with the diffusor and the kick sensor, this just sucks

I had the prior version on my e90, you had to turn it on every key cycle (vs it coming on all the time), I found I didn't use it often enough to consider it on this car. The HUD further negates the need (if your car is so equipped).

I would just get the alcantara wheel without the rev display if you already have the HUD. The dash + HUD is busy enough as it is.

This is perfect for an MT car without the exec pack.

The only way I would be allowed to buy this thing would be to buy her something equally ridiculous.

My 1 day driving school in Greenville this December turned a $600 class into a $600 class + a spa weekend for her and her sister. I lose.

You are a wise one! I use the same technique and after we moved here I've just devided his business trip days by three (they still are for work so he gets a hefty discount) and take off for the weekends sometimes!

Back home I had a healthy supply of friends and family to act as babysitters so I had an hour or two to take the dog out on my own when he was away, this is my angle I play always before the takeoff.

To me it may just make things a bit more busy. If I didn't have a hud it would be more appealing.
