Swapping Clutch..... on an XI?

Hey All,

My 335xi has 110,000km on it right now, it recently started developing a slip in 3rd through 6th under heavy boost/full throttle. Its probably a mix of higher milage and heavy boost from JB4 thats making it slip. So I'm putting the 335is/550i BMW clutch kit in it from ECS tuning but I had a few questions from those of you who might have swapped a clutch on the xi.

1. I've already watched the BAVauto video and HPF video on the clutch change, how much extra work is required to pull the transmission off on the xi?

2. In the Bavauto video he changed the rear main seal, input seal, output seal and gear selector seal. The car has 110,000km or about 70,000 miles, is it necessary to replace any of the seals at this mileage?

3. Should I replace the pilot bearing? Some people say yes some say no.

Swapping the clutch on an evo was a 6 hour job for an experienced tech. I can't even imagine how much fun it is on an XI. Then again its not a transverse mount engine so hopefully its not too bad.

my understanding, and i have yet to do this on my car, is that it is simply a matter of removing the front drive shaft, and the transfer case comes off with the tranny.

Just looked at some google images of the xdrive and I would say you are more than likely correct. It's only listed as an extra half hour in wrench time according to a mechanic friend. So thats not too bad.

At 70,000k miles no you don't need to change them. With that said, if you have the time and money, your already there might as well. Better to be proactive then reactive. They will leak, it's just the matter of time it takes.

I'll probably change the input, output and shifter seals. I'm thinking I'll leave the rear main alone because I don't plan on touching the flywheel.

How many people have had problems removing the pilot bearing? I used to use a trick hammering bread into the hole with the pilot to get it to come out, can I still use this method or do I need some stupid tool?
