just had mine on a lift yesterday...still working on finding some snow tire rims. Can see the little valve really easy. Amazing all the little things you'd never notice on these cars.

To warm up the cats supposedly.

Revlis actually has a post on how to disconnect the butterfly valve wiring harness that is located in the trunk. Once you had that disconnected, the valve will stay open at all times.

FWIW, youre going to have to learn how to search for things. Enough people told you that it was searchable which means its not an obscure topic.

However, the butterfly valve is on the left side of the exhaust. It stays closed until you get to a certain RPM and then it opens. It does this to A) Warm up the cats(supposedly) B) restrict emissions noise C) give us peons something simple to mod and feel good about.

That was your one freebie answer. Good luck and enjoy the forum.

it also closes back up at cruising speed when the engine rpm drops below a certain level to reduce droning. if you disconnect the valve, you'll hear the difference while driving.
