Removed phone cradle

I am never going to use it and would rather have the extra space for change. I ordered the rubber from a 320i but it hasn't come in. Here are a few pics.

I had an iPhone 3GS with cradle in my 335. I put it into the M3 and it's coming up as "not supported".

I am planning on just getting rid of the old phone (just used as an iPod in the car) and the two cradles. I may follow through with this and add the space in the armrest console.

Let us know how the part from the 320 works. Also any detailed instructions on how you removed the various parts would be appreciated.

I was trying to figure out how to remove that connect/cradle as well. Then was going to see if I could jury-rig a harness, that would still allow me to connect my iphone WITHOUT the snap-in Connect platform. That way I could keep my iPhone protective cover on.

Hmmm. I wonder if we could just order the non-phone cradle tray and simply unplug the cradle and swap it out?

Just a little bump on this. I assume the removal is the standard pry and unclip method, but it would be nice to know where the clips are located and which direction they disengage.

By the way, I have ordered part number 51169227902 which shows to be the non-phone dock tray for the F80. Maybe the clips on this part will give me a clue on removal of the phone dock.

The center console tray without a phone cradle is simply a rubber tray without any clips. It just sits in the space where the phone cradle used to reside.

So, are there any tricks to getting the phone cradle out without damaging anything?

I'd love a step-by-step set of instructions as a DIY posting.

It looks like the phone cradle may just snap out. However, I do not like the looks of those long cables coming out of the back of the cradle. That tells me that they plug in somewhere a distance away which probably means disassembling part of the console. Hopefully, the OP can get back with us and shed some light on this.
