a NEW Knob req

right the gearknob in my car is too long and although it lights up and is ok can any post up picks of the various options available for the e92,you see i would like a smaller one you know the stubbier type

popped into the stealers but he could only show me crappy b/w pics,so had a look in some of the cars in the showroom and liked one in a manual e92 m sport, also apparently they dont just unscrew like the old ones but have to be fitted by them for connection of wiring loom etc

thanks

Well Squeeze, wonders will never cease - you know what they say about the general endowment of people with fast cars Anyway, that doesn't sound right to me, as my manual E92 has the 'stubby' knob (it's all about girth you see), but it's not lit so I don't know what they are on about? Only problem might be what to do with the wiring in your erm, knob, if you fit one minus lighting.....

The possibilities with this thread are, as they say, endless!!!

Yes ive heard its a lot better to have a short fat one that can have a real nice tight fit in the slot when changing gear

because long thin ones will just rattle about and nobody likes that do they?

Agreed, it's best if the knob touches the sides as it goes through the gate

Squeeze, has it GOT to be from BMW and does it have to be wired,I guess the wire is just for a led to light up the 'knob'?

Storm Motorworks do some cracking knobs, might be worth a try, couple of threads here, one mentions wires:

Oh man, you gotta be careful of where you say that

I would have thought that "mine lights up" would be better than "I've got a short, fat one", but hey, whatever rocks your boat

Calvin, it's what you do with it that counts love. I'm not surprised it's a 'long'
one if you drive around with it in your hand all day. Sorry, had to be predictable

Never knew they lit up though. Apart from the gear knob, I'm assuming you are enjoying the car.

So you have a manual light up knob that you dont like......

I have an auto knob that doesn't light up, should I feel inadequate

I am sure you will find a knob that suits you perhaps there is someone on the forum to help you find it

I changed the knob on the 120d from a pudding stirrer to the short shift M knob, much nicer action, unfortunately it doesn't glow in the dark.

Regards

Chris

I'm afraid that whilst I have the required short stubby knob with enhanced girth and ///M branding (ouch) to own a manual MSport it isn't lit.

Pic attahced, also the top is shown in my sig.

If the M3 knob lights up, then isn't an M3 driver the ultimate... I mean doesn't an M3 have the ultimate knob

There have been lots of knob posts over the years and quite a few in the UK forum...

I had my knob shortened a year or so ago, here's pics: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...0&postcount=61

I'm proud of my small knob. I travel miles to show it off.

No it doesn't light up, its not that flash unfortunately...
