My only experience for covers are OEM ones...
Pop into any BMW dealer and pick up an accesories catalogue for your 335. I just got a cover when I picked up my '08. It cost a little over $200 w/tax. The one that I had for my E46 was an outdoor one as well and I had no issues with it what-so-ever the entire 6.5 years I used it. There are three kinds available: - The Outdoor Car Cover (fitted), which is what I purchased. $197 (I keep mine in a garage but I prefer the outdoor cover.) - The Indoor Car Cover which is satin and not form fitting. However, probably pretty convienent if you're in and out of the car a lot. - $225.00 - The Form-Fit Car Cover at $299. Think of it as UnderArmor for your car. I'm guessing it's mainly meant for indoor use.

Don't get one unless you have to park outside. They can sometimes cause paint marring, BMW paint is so, so soft. Happened to a buddy of mine.
Just get a car port, or fully covered parking space instead. |

Very true, I use liquid glass in multiple coats on the areas where the cover hits, like the bumper areas. The OEM ones, like the Noah fabric, are very soft and keep the dirt inside of it's pores, you just have to take them to the laundrymat to clean them and never put them in a dryer.

If you keep a good coat of wax on the car, and don't put the cover on when the car is dirty or wet it will not scratch the paint.

Agreed. I've had Cal Car Covers for years. The Nextec fabric you can wash in a delicate cycle AND throw in the dryer.
Great Protection ! |

i heard about the damage to paint but i have no option. I have to park the car outdoor and getting a covered parking spot or a car port is not an option.
I saw some on ebay for 169 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ksid=p3907.m29

Is the Cal Cover the same for the Coupe and the Sedan? It doesn't show separate listings and it seem the dimensional differences would warrant that?

On my E93 I use the cover that I bought for my Lexus SC300. It fits perfectly. The garage attendant was amazed when I told him I sas using the same cover I used on the Lexus.

I would stay away from the ebay covers unless they are known to be good quality. I tend to have the general outlook that "cheap is expensive". I'd rather spend a few more dollars on something that will be durable and offer good protection than to go cheap and end up buying another after realizing that the cheap one is junk.

I just purchased one online from CoverCraft. It is meant for dust and light weather. My car is always in a garage, but I will use the cover during the winter months, while the car sits. This will protect it from the cat, and the kids (I hope). Paid (with shipping) about $140. It is custom fit even with the pockets for the mirrors, and it has a cable and lock, just in case I would ever need to leave it outside. I am pleased with it, but do agree that the care MUST be just freshly washed and dried prior to using the cover to insure that it won't scratch.
Good luck. |
