E85 and Meth

Sorry if this has been covered but I have searched quite diligently and came up with nothing. Is e85 and meth ever used together or can it be? I plan on going jb4 and their site didn't say much about this nor did their map descriptions. Thanks.

Yes you can definitely use both together.
Meth map with a Jb4 is map 3.

its actually recommended; because running meth injection with a high alcohol content actually provided some fuel on top of what the LPFP can deliver, so you are able to run a higher concentrations of E85

Yes, I ran both meth and E60 for about half a year on-and-off. Certainly helps with IAT control and as noted, provides some fuel headroom. Ideally that's not what you are using it for (fuel), but for the longest time the platform didn't have proper fuel to layer over OE.

With well-managed port fuel, I'm not quite sure what the use of meth will be. E85 pulls out so much heat in-cylinder, IATs really won't be much of a concern unless we're talking like endurance racing. And if that's your use, this is the wrongggg platform.

How do I know how much to run of each? I mean obviously I need a target octane or power but with e85 the usual safe zone for daily power is 30/70 mix and meth 50/50 but what about together? Is map 3 auto adjusting like map 5? With both wouldn't this be close to or higher than race fuel? God this stuff confuses me.

Lowering the IAT with methanol should help the E85 really show its colors, if you will.

However I'm not familiar enough with methanol to know how much is enough for strictly lowering IAT, as opposed to using it as an "octane booster" in the combustion chamber as many others have done. I plan on running meth down the road to lower the IAT, while using E85 as my main source of octane.

That's exactly my plan. I wanted to learn the best way of doing it.

An M5 or M7 nozzle should be plenty if you are using a BMS / Coolingmist methanol injection kit with a 50/50 mix.

but can still be used safely if someone wanted to bump their E content from say E30 to E40 they can do so without having to replace or add inline fuel pumps or flash the car (for easier reversibility).

Yes and No
Map 3 can learn if you set your meth safety as default (FUB set at 0) meaning boost additive will increase based on historic timing, this equals the auto-tune on Map 5. Back in the day only Map 3 had meth support, with current firmware you can unable meth on all maps in this case making map 5 and 3 identical.

other than doing logs and experimenting with different E85 mixtures and which methanol/water mixture to inject it will take MANY logs to get is dialed in perfectly...

My quick and dirty rule of thumb:
Run the most Ethanol mixture your LPFP can support (without meth) but no more than E70.
Run the maximum methanol content that yield the lowest IAT, but without going above 90% methanol.

I run both E85 and Meth.
I run 10 gallons of E85/6 gallons of 91 oct. But I do have the Walbro 450 for my LPFP.
I run 50/50 Meth.

I run Meth still because I'm under the impression that the HPFP can't keep up with this much E85 and the Meth is suppose to help that.

Like CHECKERED said, you will need to put time into logs and dialing it in. With a list of your mods, people could guess about how much E85 to use, but logs will help others dial you in for safety.

Remember, E85 isn't always E85. Some stations will get lower grades, some area's get lower grades during the winter for example. So you'll want to keep testing the E85 at the station you use, so you know you'll be running safe.
