All UK Convertible Owners..Smarttop Anyone?

Hi Guys

Smarttop module - Plug and play- Had it on my old E93 - Great for setting up everything from the top going up and down while moving up to 25mph - to opening and closing with the key (with ignition off) - to folding the side mirrors in when locking with the key too!

See link if interested:

http://www.mods4cars.com/sms/shop/in...de=view&id=140

Have contacted them about M4 availability as they have it for the 4 series convertible so assume it will be the same thing.

Will also ask about any group buys if anyone else is interested

My concern would the weight and complexity of the roof going up at over 20mph, I had something similar a few years ago on my boxster and it eventually bent the roof hinges - £1000 bill later from Porsche and vowed not to mess with roof mechanisms again.

Folding the mirrors would be useful, can't believe comfort access doesn't do this. Overall not for me thanks but would be interested to know how you get on with it.

I've know n the developer and have been installing these for a number of years, they are relatively safe and go through a series of tests before being released.

4-series is good to go. As soon as the first F83 rolls through the doors, we'll be verifying to be 100% sure.

If you want one in the UK let me know as I work with the UK distributors and installers of the Smarttop and keep lots of stock here in the UK.

Comfort Access does fold the mirrors if you leave your finger on the 'close' bit for a few seconds, but not instantly by default. They obviously unfold as soon as you put your hand in the handle as normal when you unlock.

Not on the convertible apparently, it has been back to BMW to check and I tried it on a 6 series vert that did the same. If you know different please tell me or a short vid would be much appreciated so I can bloody well show them.

It was decided to code this off on convertibles built after july (which would appear to be all of them). It can be coded back on.

Just had clarification from Smarttop

"right now we don't offer the folding mirror feature on the F33/F83 SmartTOP.

If technically possible we can add new functions anytime via free USB
software update.

Our Group Buy rates are:

-10% for 10 or more orders
-15% for 20 or more orders
-20% for 30 or more orders"

So this will no have the folding mirrors feature!

Current price is £268 delivered

It works on my M4 Convertible. Hold they key and mirrors will close. Open the door and mirrors will unfold.
