Remote Start and Alarm Deal for your DDs

Hey guys,

A friend of mine is installing remotes starts and alarms and I wanted to see if anyone would be interested. I can guarantee you that it will be MUCH cheaper than going to any other shop and his work is TOP NOTCH. Currently he is head tech over at a big car audio company in Chicago. I can post some pictures and some of the features he did to my Lexus over the weekend.

Also, for people looking to run this on there M3 he has methods to allow it to run with the car even in gear.

More information:
Just got off the phone with ABT and asked about installation for a remote start and alarm on a 2010 BMW 335i. They quoted me the following:

This is for Viper 4105v (just remote start)
$1300 for alarm + $999 for bypass = $2299

+ to add on Alarm (for cars that do not have this option) +98 dollars
+ 250 to install the unit

Total from ABT = $2644

Currently have been tasked with calling shops around (authorized and ones that you would be going to if you were to look on your own) I will be calling a few more shops and will get you an idea and what the group buy pricing will be.

This unit will allow you to have remote start installed from $1000-$1200 ($1200 is max because might vary on year)

Will have pricing for alarm+remote start as well (sorry for the delay)

Group Buy List:
1. hwa786
2. mashimarho
3. DUI Elite
4. NickBlaine
5. WilliamS
6. MentegoE90
7. Marmaduke
8. WRichieX

Let me know if you are interested
Interested...but is it safe for our cars? I've read remote starters aren't safe for our cars. If this is safe, what kind of warranty does he provide? And what's the price? PM me if needed.

Let me take a stab at why people think it is unsafe.. two reasons
1. they think its bad for the starter, but if you think about it you start the car anyways, just does without a key.
2. put the car in gear, this is no longer a issue as viper and many other companies have come up with sequences that allow the car to say in gear and I believe the clutch is either down or the neutral safety switch.

Warranty wise, I would assume he would cover all the parts that are associated with the alarm BUT will not cover anything else on vehicle. (example, if you get role up and down module, you burn out your window motor that is not his fault)

Pricing varies on what modules and options you want. Also, if you want the full unit of alarm and remote start or just remote start

I've had a viper 5904 for about 3 years already. I installed it myself it's not very complicated. I wouldn't recommend anything that uses the stock key fob no point in having a remote start if it only works from 10 feet away. The 5904 works up to a mile away with the key fob or from anywhere there is wifi/phone service with the iPhone app.

In a manual car it should not start in gear that is not safe. If done properly it should only start in nuetral.

Just out of curiosity, with a unit such as the 5904 - if it's compatible from anywhere with wifi/phone service, why not keep stock key fob and simply remote start from phone for those interested in keeping just 1 key fob? That would be best of both worlds? I'd be interested in a setup like that for winters.

You could do that you would need your phone just to unlock your car without setting off the alarm. Considering a full charge on a iPhone only lasts a 3-4 hours I'd rather carry around an extra keyfob.
