I just bought a set of Bosch Off Amazon that were supposedly same as OEM for 174 shipped. They did have a different part number but after researching further the # corresponds to the same as the ones you have listed.

They came and I haven't had a chance to install yet but they are the same as OEM.

I should probably pick these up tho. When I bought the car a year ago, I made him replace a failed coil, I'm guessing the others are original. I'll dig in soon and figure out if I should just swap them all out. Maybe I'll just wait till the plugs hit ~10k and do it all then?

People are all over the place with the standard of replacing coils. Spark plugs are a must around 15/20k on a tuned car. There is no standard on coils most say it's pointless to change unless failed or to solve an idealing issue. My personal option is its not gonna do anything but make ur car run smoother. And for less then 200 bucks it's a no brainier for me I have 1 that's been giving me the occasional mis Fire under wot and it just makes sense to replace all then time for a walnut blast then hopefully I will free up some hp maybe ? haha

they're eventually gonna fail, one already did and they've all been subjected to the same heat cycles etc... at almost 80k, if they're all but one original it's definitely worth it to me to do it once and forget it for another 5-10 years

I remember a few months back a guy/company who refurbs/cleans the injectors. He wasn't a vendor so he was banned, but I wonder if majority of injector issues could be resolved by that type of service? And if there's any reputable places/vendors to offer it.

you're talking about !njectordoc. He will clean injectors by doing ultrasonic cleaning but if you're injectors are leaking then don't bother, throw them away cause he can't fix that.

edit: I guess the mods won't let me even display his name so I used the ! instead of the i

I don't see a reason to replace good working coils... If it aint broke don't fix it.

Spark plugs on the other hand every 40~50,000 km's.

... because they have a limited lifetime, and I'd rather fix it in the convenience of my garage than try to pull the car apart in the middle of the night stuck on the I-15 trying to get to Las Vegas or something?

not big on "preventative maintenance", are you

After two coils failed within 3,000 miles ($245 EACH time in the shop, total 71K on car that I bought last year), I replaced the other 4 myself. OEM Bosch $39/each in Rock Auto. While in there, I did the plugs too and was shocked. The gaps were double what new plugs were due to erosion, yet it ran perfectly until the coil failed. Duh-it was forcing the coil to put out 2X the voltage-no wonder they failed. BMW has no spec for plug replacement-CBS is supposed to tell you, but it seems to not work well. Yes, run plugs no more than ~35K for N54 engine!

My buddy had a misfire, replaced coils (plugs were new) with these and still had a misfire (actually different cylinder). Went to local dealer, bought coils there and no more misfire, I'm not sure>?
