What kind of video files can the in-dash DVD player play?
I'm wanting to play some music videos on the in-dash DVD player, anyone know how I need to burn the DVD disk so it will work? Thanks.

Have not tested much, but .mkv does work. I have the feeling it will read most common types. Best way to find out is to try it out.
Edit: Read title, missed post, disregard earlier You need pretty much any DVD burning software. Search for a lifehacker post on this. When the files are recorded to the disc, it's done using the DVD standard type, so the initial file type won't matter.

Hmm, I think I already coded this when I did all my coding. So off a USB stick, what video file formats will work?

I haven't come across anything that doesn't work. If you're concerned, download handbrake, it's a free video conversion software. Read about how to use it. I'm pretty sure the resolution on tech pkg I drive is 1280x480.

There are several codings that effectively enable almost every movie file type. I would worry less about what doesn't work until you find something that doesn't and then you answered your question. I haven't found anything that doesn't work, yet.

Is the DVD player only available with tech/nav package?
How about basic system? Although, in the vin decoder sheet it apears to be a DVD player in my car. Anybody? |

One thing I've noticed is if you have files that are too large (too high bit-rate / too 'high-def'), it looks like the playback software either chokes or there's a bottleneck at the USB connection (not sure if it's USB 1.1/2.0).
I'll do more testing over the weekend. |

Formats are mentioned in the manual. Can't recall what page though.
