Had my secondary cats removed and it sounds like crap

I have been runing fbo minus exhaust. So, figured id go the cheap route and have my secondary cats removed to liven up the exhaust a bit without having to spend a bunch of money. Well In low rpms below 2k it sounds like im running open wastegates and sounds like a honda with a straight pipe. Its extremely loud and high pitched rasp. But once i get on the boost wastegates close it sounds better. Is there any fix for this with the jb4 adjusting the wastegates etc? Im gonna have to do something. cause its a bit embarrassing as loud as it is. Let me know if you guys have any suggest. Thinking about doing an axle back and if its still loud add some resonators.

Just put the cats back. I did the same thing two year ago. Lucky for me I found someone local with a used E92 exhaust. My old exhaust without cats is still sitting next to the garage. If anyone in Portland OR wants it... FREE...

There is minimal to no power lost due to the rear cats on the E9x models. 1 series could use an upgraded catback however.

You just had to make sure for yourself?

I actually disagree, I'm running factory downpipes with kitties and hollowed out the secondary's and there is a slightly better growl. JMO@!

I was thinking this to hollow out the secondary cats to leave room for expansion

Replace them with resonators if you want to eliminate the rasp

I have been dow the exhaust road for a long time now. I started with just downpipes and stock everything else. I then got tired and wanted more sound so I had the secondaries removed. It then rasped so loud on low rpm's that everyone thought the downpipes were loose. I then added 1792 vibrant resonators and the rasp was gone and I was once again happy. Next I purchased a genuine BMW performance exhaust and with just the resonators it sounded like a cross between a tractor and a civic not to mention cold starts were brutally loud. The only redeeming quality was the gurgle on deceleration but even that got old since every Audi, Mercedes, and Subaru 4 cylinder now do that. So with cash basically thrown out the window back to stock with 1792's I went. Then I became tired of the catless smell in the spring, summer, and fall with the windows down and the rich running smoke at some lights. I went to the exhaust shop and he could not fit my newly acquired high flow cats with my resonators inline. With fingers crossed I took a shot and had them cut off my vibrant 1792 resonators and weld in the Flowmaster high flow cats instead. Finally I am satisfied. Catless downpipes, secondaries removed and replaced with flowmaster HFC's, DiMissa 4' tips and exhaust silencer valve removed is the setup for me. It is throaty and loud when on it and smooth and sophisticated at light throttle. No smoke and no smell. Classy. Exactly what I always wanted. Not some loud modded up shitbox. Here is a link to the flowmasters I used. (you need 2)

http://www.amazon.com/Flowmaster-223.../dp/B0085UDUL8

If you want to read about and listen to my sound clips from each step of my exhaust progress search for my posts in my profile. I do have one clip from my new setup but it is a crappy quality iphone clip. I will post it since it is better than nothing.
