High Capacity Oil Coolers
I know that Dinan came out with High Capacity Oil Cooler but they charge way too much I think ... It looks like Dinan's Oil Cooler provides twice the volume of the stock oil cooler ... Who else is out there came out with something similar ... I really want to upgrade mine before it will get too hot ...
Dinan vs Stock Specifications Total Volume: Stock = 9.5 oz. / Dinan = 19 oz. Surface Area: Stock = 45 sq./in. / Dinan = 67.5 sq./in. Cooling Tubes: Stock = 10 / Dinan = 23 Tube Lengths: Stock = 90 in. / Dinan = 207 in. Tube Area: Stock = 112.5 sq./in. / Dinan = 414 sq./in. |

no one has, only Dinan.
One member in CA, i think did a custom upgrade, but there is nothing available yet, as a bolt on. Hence the price, no competition= you dictate the market.

Not really, Dinan is expensive if there is no competition or if there are a half dozen similar products. They don't really care what the market is people will still pay because it doesn't void the warranty.

very true, but wasn't bmw not honoring anything form DInan anymore? i've always heard the Dinan was on the pricey side, but never paid much attention to the specifics, now i realize they just yank your arm off.

They provide their own warranty for 4/50,000 so it's essentially the same thing just someone different paying for it.

I'd like to see how much of a difference it makes first... especially when the car is tracked. I'd also like to know if could help alleviate temp induced limps.

Possibly on 6MT's but probably not on 6AT, that usually go limp due to water temp and not oil temp.

The interesting thing is I've been doing some research andit looks like the AT have a "heat exchanger" some should look into upgrading this.

WOW:
"The VIP Tuning Oil Cooler will reduce your oil tempertures down from 250 degrees to 190-200 degrees during hard driving. Ambient temperature depends on whether you will be at the high or low end of that margin." Can't wait to see if this actually holds true...

Oh no!
"VIP Tuning will be offering a front mounted aftermarket oil cooler that will be located just above the FMIC behind the kidney grilles, with direct access to flowing air" so your oil temp will go down but your water temp will rise because we are blocking the flow of air to the radiator. This solves one problem and just adds another. What the hell man? I think that the stock placement is perfect.
