MOTIV Motorsports - Introduction & Information
As you guys may know Jake and Dzenno cofounded and have been running proTUNING Freaks for the last few years. In the recent months we chose to start a new performance parts company named MOTIV Motorsport to research, develop and provide high quality modifications for select BMW platforms. As a result of the time and dedication required to get MOTIV to the level of quality it needed to be at, we have decide to separate the two companies out completely. Jake@PTF is now only Jake@MOTIV. Please take time to visit both new websites to see what offerings are available. The quality, service and performance you expect from Dzenno and I remains with both companies - now you just have more choices. With that said I would like to formally introduce MOTIV Motorsport to the community.
Jake Hershorin and Bobby Downes founded MOTIV with the goal of bringing high quality performance parts to specific BMW platforms. Jake has been tuning on multiple platforms for years. With a background in standalones and flash tuning; calibrating the N54 was a natural fit. After cofounding proTUNING Freaks a few years ago, he saw a need for high quality, high performance parts to power the numerous N54 and N55 cars they were calibrating. Bobby has been into cars since before he can even remember. Just like his father, his desire to make fast cars faster was a passion. After picking up a 2008 135i with the intention of turning it into an all-out NASA time attack car, his passion to continue building performance parts for the track grew. The track car was a project Bobby took on in order to display the level of craftsmanship and performance he is known for. Together, Jake and Bobby have created a team, while they have a ton of expertise, still consider themselves enthusiasts who simply want to make fast cars the right way – reliably and efficiently. How is this done? Proper R&D and testing until a product meets our extremely strict standards. The dedicated track car runs on the South East and Mid-Atlantic tracks. The car is a 2008 135i with extensive modifications to say the least. Starting with the completely custom widebody dry carbon skin, the car was put on a strict diet and comes in around 2600lbs with the driver! Powered by MOTIV, the car puts out over 600whp on 93 octane and has been driven by owner Bobby Downes and professional drivers Mike Skeen and Ryan Eversley. MOTIV strives to create parts that are quality enough to handle the rigors and harsh conditions that only this type of intense racing can provide, and make them available to enthusiasts everywhere. Our final test of the parts we provide to the community was a complete success. Powered by MOTIV and with Ryan Eversley behind the wheel, the car was able to compete and win multiple awards at this years Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge at VIR. MOTIV Motorsports strives to offer the complete package. Our parts are designed, fabricated, and tested in house. Making quality parts is only the beginning. One thing that we feel separates us from the rest is that we provide that complete package. We feel that offering hardparts that we design to work together, and be tuned/calibrated in specific ways, allows us to the ability to gaurentee results. Our website is always growing and parts and services are being added weekly. Just because it isn't on the site doesn't mean we can't get it for you. THE BASICS We get just as excited about every project and every tune we do. From tuning a stock turbo car to full single turbo projects - we love seeing our customers enjoy their cars new level of performance. We offer a variety of brands when it comes to bolt on modifications and a full list of tuning services for the N54 and N55 plaftorms. ACHIEVING BIG POWER There are many ways to make the power we are putting to the tire with our different levels of MOTIV Single Turbo Kits. WIth that in mind - we felt it would be a good idea to outline specificially what we suggest in order to allow our customers to repeat our results on their cars time and time again. The greatest part about our MOTIV lineup is that is was designed to be modular! Different power levels require different levels of modifications. Not everything has to be purchased at once allowing you to get used to the power and have room to grow. These recommendations are made assuming you already have an upgraded FMIC and charge pipe (an aftermarket exhaust will help reduce backpressure and sound MUCH better with a single turbo installed). RECOMMENDED STARTING POINT -Standalone ECUThis starting point will allow you to reach the mid to high 500hp range on pump gas alone. Some cars will be able to push a little higher depending on the condition of their HPFP and LPFP. THE "THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH POWER" -Standalone ECU
-MOTIV Port Fuel Kit
Now this package is really only limited by the driver and traction. This list of parts and our custom calibration is how we achieved such efficient power. The brands of the supporting boltons used during all testing were a COBB N54/N55 FMIC, COBB 335 Catback Exhaust, and an Evolution Racewerks Charge Pipe with HKS BOV. All parts are available through us on our website or by emailing us to receive promotional pricing. Use coupon code INTRO5%OFF for a discount on any and all products on the site through October 24th. Great guys to work with. Hit them up and they will take care of you no matter what your power goals are.

Yep. It is in our NASA dedicated track car which started as a 135 (seen above in original post). I have a few shops in Texas looking to become authorized installers. If you are interested in a kit reach out to me and we can get you in touch with them and get a kit coming your way.

Always been a pleasure to work with through the 93 tune and the e50 tune I've gotten from you. It was very easy to see your dedication and appreciation of not just the cars but the people behind them. Best of luck to you Jake.

WWWWOOOOOOOWWWW
AMAZING PRICING ON THE PI-1000 kit!!!! Will be buying it as soon as I have more info on them Can it be ran and tuned with jb4 plus backend flash? Is terry working on a new firmware for this fuel system? Do I need a stand alone? Do I need Cobb? Will a Cobb v2 work well if Cobb is needed? List of parts included on kit; does it include pumps? Can it be ran with a single 455 in tank? Thank you for all your hard work and development! I hope it all pays off here on shortly!!!

This is really exciting news indeed, awesome stuff you're making.
As much as I'd like to be, I'm not in the market for a big single upgrade, but I'm SO looking forward to seeing 60-130 and Quatermile times of your costumers cars. I am however very interested in your PI fueling solution, as I would like to run 100% E85 with my RB turbos, as my HPFP is simply not cutting it. Dzenno knows, I think I was one of his first E50/RB Pro Tune Projects So, can I use this PI-fuel kit with the COBB AP? And if so, when can you ship it and make me a map?.....

Well once the hard parts are in on the turbo side. We will be finding the limits of the motor rather quickly. I'm hoping ABR gets a high rpm head figured out on the dyno before then so I can get more top end out of the 4205 lol.

Already purchased the 750 kit but do have a couple of questions that I figured I'd post here instead of e-mailing.
I plan on running the 750 kit with the Cobb v2 & JB4 G5 ISO. Is there anything else needed as far as tuning goes? To be more specific, is the JB4 3.5 bar TMAP adapter needed? Lastly - is there a recommended flywheel that you would recommend to be paired up with the MOTIV Twin Disk Clutch? Probably not a bad idea to include that somewhere. |
