N54 engine light and rough idle
Hi guys
After sitting all night outside and in the rain the engine threw engine light and idling rough. I drove it for few minutes and it went away I started it later and same thing To me looks like injectors or coil How can I determine which injector or coil is defective Spark plugs have 3000km on them Thank you |

Reading the codes would be easiest.
Otherwise, pull the spark plug and a fouled spark plug would be an indication of a leaky injector. Only way to tell which coil pack is to buy a new one and start blindly replacing until the problem goes away; which is why getting the code read is easier. Once you have the misfire code, if it's one cylinder you can simply swap the coil pack from the "bad cylinder" to another. If the misfire follows the coil then you know the coil was bad. If the misfire stays at that cylinder then it's an indication of spark plug or injector. |

Quick update
I removed each coil one by one while the engine was working and all affected the file once disconnected telling me all work fine. I also removed all spark plugs and all were fine and not flooded. The car runs fine but the engine light us still Any thoughts? How do I get rid of the light? Thank you. |

code reader, carista app with bluetooth odb connector, cobb tuner, bmwhat app with bluetooth odb connector...I'd say there are a few ways to remove the codes
amazon for the odb adapter, carista is free on google play store, the full bmwhat app is about 50 bucks (android and apple) and incredibly worth it

Or the codes popped when you were pulling 1 coil at a time and you likely didnt check cyl 5 by accident. Clear the codes, let the car retest and then check the codes.
