What's the best combo for a 07 335i? I can't stand the squeaky noise anymore!

OEM spec? I have Akebono pads and love them. No dust, noise, etc. I had the same squeal, so replaced pads and sensors now it's gone.
Higher performance pads would be StopTech, plus many others, but might be a bit noisy at times, and will throw a good amount of dust. Although that's based on what I've read, I haven't personally tried them out to confirm that. |

I swapped to Hawk PC (Performance Ceramic) in my '08 335i, and it was a great decision. Good stopping power, very low dust, and no noise. Be sure to get a good brake parts lubricant and coat EVERYTHING that comes in contact with anything else (except the wear surface...). I use CRC Disc Brake Quiet.

Nevermind..... I found them on the ECS site..... $600 for the fronts only, and they don't offer a 2 piece for the rears, so no matching rear rotors...

Thanks for the input guys, much appreciated. I'm leaning toward the Akebono pads just not sure on rotors. Just looking for something with good value that doesn't make horrible ass noise lol.

Most companies don't make 2 piece rotors for the rears. It's complete over kill. I have 2 piece rotors on my Z06. They are legit but $$$.
Stop tech is are more popular seller. Slotted, Cross drilled or cross drilled and slotted. |

Are the steel brake lines worth $130? Do you really notice a difference?

I went with R concept slotted rotors and stop tech pads, have about 1K on the setup and no squeaks or anything.
I think installation plays a big part in how quite the brakes are though. If you take your time to prep all the surfaces correctly and break in the pads/rotors correctly they should be silent their entire life span. I've always had issues with noise when I let a shop do my brakes on my cars, whenever I've done it I've had no issues. Last edited by Miller335; 10-16-2014 at 03:35 PM.. |

Rotors don't make near as much difference, it's just a surface for which the pads apply force. Pick the one you like to look at. |

Im considering the Stoptech package it comes with drilled rotors and stop tech pads and stainless lines for $600. Do you recommend this kit? I want something with low dust, low noise, and will brake like OEM or better! Thanks for any help!

Brembo UV Rotors and Akebono ceramic pads. I also use CRC high temp Brake grease on the caliper pins and the backside and ends of the pads where they might come in contact with anything. The grease is good to 3000 degrees.

I prefer Hawk HPS myself. Only pads I sell that may make noise are Hawk HP+, Hawk Race pads, and maybe EBC yellow stuff but I have no experience with the Yellow EBC, maybe someone else can chime in on that. Otherwise, yes, I recommend that package, that's why I put it on the site The stop tech pads are about par with Hawk HPS performance, they might have a slighter bite and or more dust. It's kind of hard to gauge cause the difference is minimal. It's in our specials sections. I can't post links here otherwise I would post it. If you guys want a package for F/R rotors and F/R pads, I'll do package deals (if there already isn't a package deal on my site). The pricing on our site is already pretty aggressive on everything we sell, so keep in mind, margins are small. I know you guys beat me up on price but the reality is we make very little they way stuff is already priced on our site. It's just the nature of a low margin industry. |
