PROcede and Spark Plugs.

Has anyone changed / upgraded their spark plugs out yet? I've got some freinds that have been messing with cars for a while and they all suggest that I do so. Is there any benefit to upgrading spark plugs? Is it needed with the PROcede?

typical conventional spark plug like Bosch Plantium will work well for Daily driver. I m not sure if BMW still using Plantium spark plug. When are you starting to mod thing and making more than oem spec. You need to have high melting point spark plug. you need to have Iridium Spark Plug because it have higher melting point and little more resistance to corrosion, and less denotation. This company http://www.nitroiridium.com/features.html make spark plug for racing application.

This company make spark plug for BMW http://www.autocarparts.com/part/368/46/

According to Denso company "Denso Iridium Spark Plugs keeps your engine in prime condition is an important factor in obtaining the highest possible performance. The Performance Tuning section helps you diagnose various problems that may affect the output of your engine. "

Ive thought about this too but the stock plugs seem to be holding their own very well. I run copper plugs on my S/C M3 because of the colder burn(also ran them in my A4 previously). Problem with that is you need to replace them every 5k. Dont know much about the iridium ones other than they are mighty pricey.

We just went with iridium's on my car, actually went a step colder as well. Car is running fantastic and I no longer have that strange hiccup that was happening all the time.

The spark plugs on the N54 engine (Bosch ZGR6STE2) are completely different than the ones used on the N52 engine.

Going to a one step colder plug is idea for modified N54 engines.

At $25 a pop you better get the right heat range.

here is Some NGK iRidium for e90 e92 and e93

http://www.myhotbmw.com/bmw/Iridium/...-_10_HP/533366 "they claimed 10hp increase"

or you can go directly to NGK website

http://ngk.com/results_app.asp?AAIA=1433813

Not all spark plugs are created equal.
Some spark plugs can improve performance, while others offer long life. Some can make your lawnmower easier to start, while others resist fouling. For most of the applications you look up at this site, whether its for a car, boat, lawnmower or generator, you will find the prices for a plug as low as $2 or as high as $12 (although we stock some hand made Japanese racing plugs which have a retail price of $100 per plug). So why spend $12 for a spark plug when a $2 plug will screw in and start your car? Well, to be honest, if you are just tuning up your car to pass smog so you can sell it, it isn’t cost effective to purchase the highest quality double platinum plug. But if you are planning on keeping that car or the outboard motor your tuning up, the plug you choose can improve ease of starting, acceleration, fuel economy, as well as how soon you have to change them again. In short, there are horsepower and mileage improvements available from different spark plugs.

To help you decide which plug is best for you we have categorized according to quality level and construction features. We have also explained and illustrated the differences in what may appear to be similar plugs.

Whether you are a racing engine builder or just tuning up your lawnmower, NGK.com will become your source for NGK spark plugs. After searching through the plugs available and selecting the best plug for your needs, we will have it in stock and ship it to you immediately, (usually the next business day).

Some BMW engines use Bosch and some use NGK. NGK seems to work better than the Bosch ones but it really depends on the engine.
