Oh .. so thats what theyre for !!
and after 1500 miles i have finally got the hang of using the paddles !!!!
.... and oh dear its not gonna be good news for the wallet !! But what a difference, its a real involving drive, you can keep both hands on the wheel, concentrate on steering and the road. I never really got the hang of them before, on the first test drive of the car my initial thought was that they were an after thought , like a gimicky thing. I have been on a trip out today and decided to go back via a few B road twisties, it was a fairly quiet road, just occasionally littered with the odd Flat cap sunday driver, not too many just enough to play with and it was a brilliant drive. Im really loving the 335D's transmission, the ability to sit back in town traffic and relax in automatic not having to change gear every 5 seconds. Then out of town get into the twisties with the really involving paddles. I really am loving this car more every day !!

... yeah ok Mantis
I agree CD, it was odd using them at first and I struggled coming from a Manual too. I found that in DS mode the car was fighting me around tight twisties and would try and spin me off by dropping gears at the wrong time and then assuming I needed the lowest ratio that the revs allowed, which in slippy peak district territroy was NOT what I wanted. Paddles were a bit of a revalation to me too... Actually E92FAN only EVER uses paddles and he swears by them... Take it easy in the wet SJ |

I love paddles, they let you dictate a decent gear etc before overtaking to stop that dreaded kickdown when you least expect it and lose a vital second when overtaking lol
Nice one CD!

Is there no way we can restrict the Yanks from here, I only started posting here to get away from them.
Maybe we could have some sort of question to answer to gain entry ? Like recite the 2 X table or something, that ought to keep `em out. |

Glad you've got the hang of the paddles Chris, I use them alot on more 'exuberant' driving moments. My E90 330i was an auto so the paddles were the only new thing to 'learn' on the E92. My fingers are just that bit too short to use them without moving my hand(s) slightly, but no big deal at all. Love that auto box though
Which B roads did you hit then? |

Blimey, almost as dumb as Jade Goody! Oops sorry, she's English of course, which doesn't support our argument at all. Do you think Vienna would approve of the way this thread is going?

You Brits are all a bunch of morons. Keep trying to convince yourselves that you're smarter, more articulate, and more cultured than everyone... and your place in the world will continue the downfall that started with the war of 1812.
