Silent Recalls

Just letting you guys know that there are two right now. One for a resistor and one for water drainage. I would suggest you call up the dealership and get them done.

My car was dropped off for service today due to a ticking sound coming from the engine bay. Could be exhaust valves (in the engine). Stay tuned.

Thanks for the notification! Have you gotten the bulletins taken care of yet? Any difference in the car?

I think this only affects the DCT and not the 6spd manuals, but I will ask my SA when I bring it to them on Thursday.

Just got the car back...

Basically, two of the exhaust valve lifters were slightly shorter than spec, by 1.1mm, which caused excessive noise. They were replaced and all is quiet now. While my car was in, BMW also performed three different recalls:

- replacement of door handle rubber seals
- replacement of unit compartment partition wall, no clue what this is
- retrofitting of resistor

It was also discovered that the passenger side back wheel well liner was warped, so did not sit properly. They will need to replace that when they get the part.

Finally, one of the bladders in the driver side chair was squeaking. So they are also replacing that. Things to look out for...

I've got my fix for manual via the WRX.

I have a question for you about the exhaust value lifter fixes.

Did it fix the annoying rattle sound from the exhaust? If so, is there a part # and the description in the work order?

Also, can you tell us the dealership that did the work, because they seem to know what they are looking for.

You can PM me if you feel more comfortable.

Thanks

Budds did the work on my car.

I had no exhaust rattle. The fix was to fix a louder ticking sound coming from the engine (no, not the quieter, fast paced ticking sound from the fuel injectors).
