Lost ring in instrument cluster

I stupidly put a friend's ring in die fold under the instrument cluster and the steering column for safety's sake....it's slipped into the open bits on the side and disappeared!

I've fished around with the torch and a chopstick, but can't find anything even when tilting the column up and down.....where would something dropped in there go, before I start dismantling the entire dash?

it might've fallen straight down to the lower footwell cover. you will need a T-20 torx driver to remove several screws and just a clip at the rear of the panel to remove the panel.
