Touch wood!! so far!
I do drive quickly, but also carefully and considerately. Well some might not agree tho I followed a dim wit into a 30 zone the other night after i nailed it up behind him, i couldnt overtake so i settled down to 30 as we came into the 30 zone, he carried on at 40mph and got ''gunned''..... I thought they would be there that time of night on a fri they usually do. Carlos

When autocar done a quick test with the 335d, the author said that unless you have iron resolve, you risk losing your license!!! My 9yr old licence is clean thankfully, but never say never.
Birmingham is full of scam cameras, and there are even plans to introduce 20mph average speed cameras. And even in Solihull, the council has jumped onto the bandwagon to turn drivers into criminals. Glad to to hear to the car is going well |

I have a clean license too - surprising as I've been very close many times. It really is down to luck more than anything else.
My wife has been caught twice in the last couple of years - once by a camera (37 in a 30) and once by roadside cops (36 in a 30) - and she is really amazed that I've never been caught in all my years of driving because I do drive far more spiritedly than she does. But I never speed in built-up areas and stick to the 30's and 40's.

Hi Chris, glad you're enjoying the 335!
Clean license but one or two scary moments with the boys in blue (M62 V70's), had a head shaking and finger 'tut tut' but smiled and got away with it. Think we're quite lucky really, hardly any fixed cameras apart from in Hull and the bloody annoying, money making 'speed safety camera van' on Daltry Street flyover!!!! I think you can pretty much drive with impunity around the Eastriding, especially all our country roads. Like you say, the biggest worry is shelling out for new rear tyres. Enjoy. |

that one really , really annoys me too to be honest im all in favour of speed cameras WHERE THEY ARE PROVEN TO SAVE LIVES for example in built up resedential areas, where you shouldnt speed but some of these 'safety locations' are just a joke !!

Yep matey, the official date is 11/01/08, although Sytners said is could be a bit earlier I agree with the need for speed cameras, but only in high risk areas such as schools for instance. But their are many senseless locations in Bham, such as the A45 dual carriageway running into the airport, which has speed cameras. Its the insane pedestrian who attempts to cross the A45 who needs attention, not the motorists!! |

Luckily my licence is clean, but the luck is surely to run out one day.

Lets face it, they're just another tax raising solution for the most part. We've went from the best safety records on the roads to one of the worst in Europe, simply because of the politically correct focus on speed instead of catching the reckless drivers. They'd rather catch the normal, decent drives who go a few mph over the limit, to quote someone else - Bastards.

Yup, clean license so far ... got let off a few times in the past (in the days before safety cameras), and now have a Road Angel, which is good for fixed cameras, but not so good for the mobile traps and talivans. I do tend to slow down in built-up areas and temporary speed limits through road works - I am amazed how many drivers blithely ignore mandatory 40 or 50mph speed limits and hammer on through at 60 or 70+ ...
