This isn't entirely true... the dash and console trim pieces are interchangeable between the M3 and M4. However, on the M4, the trim finisher color extends from the dash to the doors. So if you own an M4 and change trims, you might have a mismatch of colors between the dash trim finish color and the trim piece on the door. On the M3 the door trim finishing color is just matte black, so you wouldn't know if your dash/console trim came from another M3 or an M4.

Just swapped from aluminum to Carbon and it was apiece of cake, took a total of about 15 minutes for all 3 pieces.
Both sets were from an F80, on an F80, so I cannot answer the M3 to M4 or vise versa question. Were you to buy these parts though, I think it'd be expensive (more so than on an e46 for instance), as the actual carbon or aluminum trim is plastic welded to the back plate which also has the vents, hazard switch, idrive etc.... |

Well, not the OP, but I pick my M4 later this week, and it has CF trim, and I am pretty sure I would have preferred to get aluminum trim, so if you are willing to wait a bit, we could arrange some sort of swap.

I got mine from a secret underground chopshop...kinda...had to give them my aluminum trim in exchange....it all just pulls straight off, the large pice with the 2 center vents is a bit fragile when you get to the far right side, just start at the left and be easy...a monkey could do this and not mess it up.

I have aluminum trim, and would be interested in a potential swap. Shoot me a message if you're interested.

Here you go. Cheapest place to get them is ECS Tuning unless you have a hookup somewhere. They wanted $1050 shipped. Just switched my from wood to carbon last week. Also the trim on F3x & F8x is all the same. I put my wood F82 trim into my F30 with no issues. Be aware if you change the carbon trim in your M4 that the door trim pieces will still be in Aluminum and the Carbon will have the black chrome accent. Its like that in my car and you cant even tell it wasnt designed like that.

I have the center console (arm rest to glove box) from my f82 available in perfect condition (I replaced it with a custom leather one to cut down on reflections). Open to selling the dash pieces also as I plan on doing the same thing to those (or getting the M-performance dash pieces). All pieces are mint.
