V2 launch control

Will it work like this?
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=124017

How effective will it be on a RWD car?

I dont understand why edmunds insist that the z06 runs a 12 second quarter mile?? If you visit the corvette forums you'll see proved and documented runs of MUCH lower times, stock on stock tires. Anyone know where they get their numbers??

Yeah, some of those guys over there just don't know how to drive a high HP RWD car well.
The ZO6 is no 12 second car, it's a low 11's car at 125+ mph, and some have done 10.9 stock on a great track with great drivers. But in their defense, it's hard to get the best of times with a car like the ZO6 that you might only have a day to drive and test with. Owners who have a lot more experience in the car do a lot better.

Anyway, as for launch control....I don't know Shiv will have to chime in.
I don't know how he'd do it.

It may just be the gear dependant user torque settings that's apparently going to follow very soon.
By limiting power in 1st gear, you could dial in the most power you can without wheel spin or setting off DSC in the low to mid rpm range in 1st gear.
That would be a rudimentary "launch control" if you will.

launch control is a pipe dream... and Z06s that run high 10's to mid 11's have DRs on them. Don't be fooled Z06's are fast as hell but they are still high 11 to mid 12's on stock tires. All depends on the track and the conditions.

That's inaccurate; stock Z06's run mid 11's @ 125mph all day long at most tracks with their stock RFTs and ~ 2.0 sec. 60ft. times. The power of the '07-'08 Z06 is just mind boggling.

Nope, check dragtimes.
They are running low to mid 11's on the stock tires.
And one guy that I read in a thread recently did 10.98 @ 127 ish on a stock ZO6 on his stock tires. I'm sure conditions were superb and the track was prepped to a T as well, but hey, owners are doing it.

The stock LS3 Corvette is running 12.2-12.3 @ 116+ mph

take a look at this video. btw i dont see L.C. being too necessary esp for us guys with auto trannys, but can be helpful for manual guys and loading boost at the correct time of letting the clutch go. the new gt2 has is a manual transmission with L.C.
I agree.
I have an auto, and if we get gear dependant user torque settings, I think we just have to bring the power down in M1 from 1000-4000 rpm, ramping the power up to full power by 6500 rpms in M1 mode.
Set the power levels so you can brake torque launch at 1800-2000 rpms and go pretty much full throttle then without setting off DSC as boost builds into the 3000-3500 rpm range and you sort of have a "launch control" if you will.
