pulling the hand break while moving

is this bad for the car?

also, is it bad to accelerate very fast when the car isn't warmed up?

Um.. whats up with the board right now?
Did you lose your breaks? Are you trying to drift? And yes do not accelerate fast unless your turbos have 2 bags of ice on them!

it's bad unless ur going 60+ mph then you just pull it hard with a sudden turn of steering wheel. that's the only instance where it's good for your car.

drifting is good too btw.

dont rev your engine too high when the car isnt warmed up because it DOES damage the engine. If you pull on the handbrake while the car is moving it's going to slide (Tokyo drift comes to mind).

No, it's not bad, it's essentially like pressing the brake pedal, although it only brakes the rear wheels. BMW recommends engaging the handbrake while moving from time to time to prevent corrosion. Don't do this with anyone behind you!

The key word in BMW's instructions is "lightly". I would also keep the release button depressed while performing this exercise so it is easier to modulate the stopping force.

+1

I usually shift 1st to 3rd to 5th till it's warmed up. Saves some gas too

Horribly - yes on both questions.

1 - Don't do it if you're commuting or driving around in traffic.

2 - Don't do it until your oil temperature needle has started to move to the warmer side.

This is accurate, however 95% of your braking force comes from the front rotors/pads. The rears are hardly ever used. Doing this exercise is a preventative option when barely rolling in 1st gear < 5mph... you dont need to fully raise the handbrake up. Just keep the e-brake button held down while you're modulating the lever for a few seconds.

I shift like a grandmother who has nothing better to do in the mornings

I shift at < 1400rpms in all gears until its warmed up.

Nah, generally speaking -for all cars with manual ebrake- is a friction brake. If you do it too often you may have to replace the contact pad or tense the wire again.

It's useful to avoid a ticket by first braking normally and then using the hand brake to slow down just after you enter an intersection where there's a cop. He won't see your brake lights while you continue to decelerate.

I wouldn't do it any other time and wouldn't do it if someone was behind me either.
