Square Setup with 8X18 ET52 Possible?

I would be buying two additional OEM m235i rear rims, putting them on the front axle, and pairing them with either 245/40 or 235/40 tires. Can anyone please tell me if this would work?

No - wont work. The OEM rear wheels bind on the front at full lock.

Hmm, I'm surprised it wouldn't work as the offset + increased width of the results in the same offset as the stock front wheels. I assume you've tested them though and it didn't work?

18x8.5" ET45, which is known to fit on the front (with 235mm tires at least), has 13mm less inner clearance than the default tires and also pokes out more by 13mm.

18x8.0" ET52 would have 13mm less inner clearance yet would also retract inward from the outside bumper by 1mm. I could add a 7mm spacer to help offset that.

I've never bought wheels for a car before. Can anyone confirm that my calculations are correct and/or that this setup would work?
