07 (New) 335i Sedan Qs

I'm looking at a great deal for a leftover 07 335i Sedan, colored and configured just the way I wanted one, from a dealer about 1000 miles away. It is apparently a May 07 production. Based on what I've read in various threads, is it safe to assume that it will have the supplementary oil cooler (it has the Sport package) and is past the time during which there were problems with the fuel pump, water pump, etc? Are there any other potential issues with an 07 that I should be aware of (except needing A/s or Winter tires) for the 1000 mile drive home?

I don't think u need to worry about oil cooler issues any more than ppl with 08 models. The likelihood of you running into issues is the same as someone with a car built today if the reports around this forums are to be believed.

Unless you care madly about LED license plate lights, there is no reason not to get a post march 07 built car.

and you'll get the rechargeable flashlight and power source in the glove box!!! These were changed for '08, at least in the coupe and probably also in the sedan. One more thing: even if it turns out you have a defective HPFP, replacements are being reported as happening without delay or hassle under warranty, so I don't really think that will be a big issue.

If you are getting a good deal and don't mind the 1000 mile drive I would say do it. I love mine. One thing I would suggest if you can buy another set of wheels with good snow tires. It's a pain in the back side to switch over winter to summer tires on the same rims every year.

Good luck with your decision.

browsing this website will give you a false sense of just how prevalent the fuel pump failures e.t.c are. I had one of the very 1st build of the 335 sedan september 06 and haven't had one issue with my car except the auto leveling xenon lights always having to be corrected (because it gets stuck) car has been flawless.

Same here. My headlights have the error now too.... need to go in Jan and get em checked out.

And I talked to my dealers about the fuel pumps and he has only seen 1 go bad, so fuel problem really only hits a small percentage of cars.

The only reason I might be against it, is if, and when you sell it, years to come, you're resale value will be less! If you lease it you won't have a problem.

Go for it! The 335i in any iteration is awesome! I haven't had any issues with mine (pre March 2007 build) and am considering making my next purchase another BMW.

My advice to you is to rent something you can haul the car in (like UHaul tow) and save the miles. No reason to add unneccesary miles.

Are you suggesting to tow the car along behind or somehow get it in the truck? If I towed it would it ne OK riding on the stock summers (sport package)? To be honest, the main thing that is causing me grief is the thought of driving it back through the Rockies, especially as we've been getting a lot of snow recently. I would probably have to put at least all-seasons on it when I leave the dealership which leaves me with the predicament of what to do with the stock summers which probably won't fit in the car.

Go for it! Don't worry about the HPFP or the oil cooler. More than likely, the car will have the oil cooler. And as for the HPFP, I still read that some 08s have problems with them. If you do have a bad HPFP, then just bring it to the dealer and have them replace it. They have them in stock now.

On a side note, I don't have the ZSP or the oil cooler and I have had the SSTT, JB2RH and now the Helix Attache and I drive my car hard and have not notice that my temps ever passing 250 degrees.

So, if you are happy with the price, color, options of the car, then go for it and enjoy!

I just don't want the fuel pump quitting or the car going into limp mode or overheating 500 miles into the trip at 10,000+ feet up in the rockies in a blizzard.

Check your PM's and hit me back. Sounds like a good deal to me---but also check the money factor on the lease.

Done, though I might have told you stuff you already know. Still, it doesn't hurt to know as much as possible to get the best deal.

Titanium Silver with Gray Leather and Alum Trim. I would have preferred the Burl Walnut Wood trim but everything else is right, especially the Gray leather and it has exactly the options (MT, Prem, Sport, Heated Seats, iPod/USB) that I would have chosen for a special order? I had to cast my net extremely wide because I wanted an "i" rather than "xi" with manual transmission and they are very hard to find.

P.S. Dealer confirmed it has the additional oil cooler.

Deal fell through so for only $12 per month more (on lease) I've special ordered a 2008 model with same options for delivery in late Feb. I chose Montego Blue with Gray Leather and Burl Walnut Wood trim.
