SOFL 335 vs S4
finally i got the first race up. my gf didnt get the vid right at the launch but long story short i was stupid (pretty nervous too). we did a 20 mph roll and i did it in 2nd gear at like 2500 rpms lol... so i hit the kick down button and kicked back into 1st then back to second and then i started reeling in..
i would have beat him even worse if i just started out in 1st.. idk what i was thinking.... 1st gear at 20 mph is like perfect launch for my car too.. |

ok guys here we go.
1st race: 20 mph roll. i did NOT turn off traction control. i was in 2nd gear at 2500 rpm (stupid me) hit the kick down button and dropped to 1st, then back to second then reeled him in. at the end of the race we were doing appox. (140mph) 2nd race: from a dig. forgot to turn off traction control again. no break torque. terrible launch. then as i shifted into second it shifted automatically into third, so i downshifted back to second, then i gave up. 3rd race: from a dig. traction control turned all the way off. brake torqued it to about 1500 rpm for a good reaction. got a decent launch. 4th race: from a 30mph roll in 2nd gear. honestly i dont feel that i lost. no flaming please, thanks. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Matt |

Close runs, no doubt. I love daylight race videos. You can actually see the other car and driver. So much better (and safer) that way.
That Audi is a strong runner and the V8 sounds great! Too bad the previous thread about this race turned into a pissing match. Hopefully this one won't. Oh, and your GF did a decent job with the camera. I never felt like puking! Last edited by Clem; 12-25-2007 at 07:09 AM.. Reason: Compliment! |

Yup, and to emphasize the difference, take the passenger out of your car and into his. You will see a big difference. However, a passenger affects a lighter car even more than a heavier car (% of total weight), and the BMW is the lighter car to begin with.

great videos... my dad has a b6 S4, i actaully pull on him harder, muhc harder. the first video seems like the way i pull on my dad. the rest of the videos arent what i expected, but u did have bad gear changes. kickdown sucks. you should clarify the races and what happened with ur car in ur video if u didnt do so, the audi boys are gonna go nuts.

GOTALOTTACASH, thanks for taking the time to do this, man!
You did not loose! And if he would have been stock with stock curb weights, he would have been walked good.

The guy definitely turned out to be a cocky SOB. Maybe he should put himself and the Audi on a diet. That way he'll have better chances next time.

Here's what I posted from the original thread; great job, GotAlottaCash!

1. You didn't beat him; it was pretty much dead even with the stock 335i pulling on you from what I saw. 2. You got a better launch (and apparently he flubbed that launch) on one run, and that's the run that you ended up several CLs ahead. 3. If you were truly stock with a stock exhaust and air filter, and if it was only him in his car (without his gf), he almost definitely would've been at least 1 CL ahead of you on each run...just imho. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...95&postcount=4 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...27#post1869327 Anyway, thanks for coming out and playing, and btw -- you have a sik sounding exhaust.
