4 Series Gran Coupe...
I have started thinking about the 4 Series Gran Coupe as a possible replacement for the 330d... M3 might be a bit of a stretch and I am not convinced I like the look of it myself... Not enough to sign on for the hike in price over what I have this time, anyway...
I have looked at the Coupe, and, as nice as it is, I think I would miss some of the practical benefits of the 4 doors... ...and so the Gran Coupe is something to consider... Has anybody seen one yet...? Driven one..? I am assuming that much will be familiar from the F30, but I just wondered what your thoughts were..

I have not driven one, but had a really good look round one at my local dealers. If I'm honest, I don't get it. To me it is smaller in the back, with less rear head room (yes probably an obvious remark as it has a lower sweeping roofline than F30).....and then it also has a narrower boot, due to the hatch needing a ledge to shut out on. From the drivers seat, it is 'very familiar' which is a bit of a shame....BMW could have given it a totally new look by using different colours and textures.......but they didn't. So that is the view from an F30 driver.....no doubt if you were new to BMW the similarities might be less of an issue, but to me, it isn't a big enough 'upgrade'. Seeing as they cost more, I would rather go for another F30. I do like the Coupe |

As far as I can ascertain, there is no objective reason, other than looking cool, to choose the 4 series over the 3...and the gran coupe doesn't even look as cool as the normal one..
It's literally just a less practical 3 series that costs more...and (arguably) looks a bit cooler. |

I like the GC a lot and wanted to swap my F30 but there's hardly any discounts available also massive waiting time on them so it's another F30 for me for now but would love to have one in about 18months+ time, I shouldn't really say it as my current order not even built yet

My experience similar to NISFAN's in that I have had a good look at one as I really liked the early photos of them. The back is too small for full-sized adults and lanky teenagers and the hatch is too narrow to offer much more in the way of carrying flexibility. I didn't even like the look as much as I thought I would. And what the hell they are doing with that "grand coupe" badging on the C pillar I have no idea. Perhaps you can delete it...
The M3 is the way to go...

...and perhaps have a proper re-think about the practicalities of the coupe... as I agree with you...

Hmm... M3/M4... Of the two, I think the M4 is by far the better looking... Somehow, the M3 doesn't do it for me, looks-wise (I think the M Sports look better)... I don't think I'd be happy spending M3 money on the M3... If you get my drift... and if I am thinking M4, I might as well be looking at the Boxster S as well...
