Window sealant/cleaner/lubricant
What do you use to lube the rubber around the door where the window meets it?
It's making a sort of sticky rubber noise. |

I normally just wash the rubber with warm water and dish detergent...not sure if it's the best option, but it works for me! Cleans and degreases the rubber and doesn't seem to harm it at all

Glycerin (available at RiteAid) - I won't start applying till the weather gets to freezing wet conditions.
Or Zymol Seal When it comes to UV protection I use a car cover |

Thanks a bunch guys. I expect I'll wash the rubber with soap, then apply glycerin.
I assumed that was the general care, but I was worried about getting anything gummy or drying out the rubber. Never heard of Gummi Pflege, I'll have to look that up Thanks! |

Use 3M rubber lubricant it comes in spray... Open the door and apply it... Leave door open for about 30 mins till it dries so that you dont stain a bit your window glass

Gummi Pflege is the stuff to use. BMW used to stock it years ago but now you have to find it elsewhere. I got mine through Amazon.
Advice: You have absolutely no idea how freakin' expensive those door seals are (think many hundreds of $$$) so it's worth making seal care part of your regular regimen.

Gummi Pflege, by all means. It's available thru Bavauto.com, & is probably best product. Comes in an applicator like liquid shoe polish years ago...when people tried to polish shoes the easy way.
It dries quickly, no mess and keeps seals soft. I have a Z4 also and that car has more rubber seals than the US Navy. GP is not expensive at all. Have had one bottle for years with 2-3 Bimmers around here. It does not take much. |

Streaks on windows
Will Gummi Pflege help keep the seals from accumulating junk (or atleast make them easier to clean)? The inch or so of window drop down upon opening the door seems to make the window seal a magnet for collecting everything from pollen to tree sap which then streaks all over the window.

Haven't found over these years that GummF is any more prone to collect debris or whatever. It IS a topical, and soaks in to a degree. I don't use it to excess---but anything applied to rubber, could I guess allow "dusties" to sit and need cleaning. The GF wipes clean nicely...and I just apply it in fall and spring...not much more needed than that. But it cleans nicely...just have not seen the issue you mentioned though.
