Let's Mount the Phone Where I Can See It!
Being a huge fan of Waze and mainly using my Samsung Note 2 for music over bluetooth, I wanted to be able to see the phone and have access to its controls. I had a RAM seat bolt mount on the E36 ///M3, but it was not stable without the seat touching the middle portion of of the vertical support. I noticed that the cup holders in the F80 might just be the right spot to make something work. Enter RAM mounts. Good quality and lots of flexibility. In my opinion, the RAM parts do not detract from the look of the interior. The parts are colored matte black and are of solid construction. The picture below consists of the following part numbers:
RAM Mount RAM-A-CAN II Vehicle Cup Holder Base with 1 inch Ball RAM Mount Long Arm B-Socket RAM-B-201U-C RAM Mount Universal X-Grip Phone Cradle with B-Ball RAM-HOL-UN7BU It is very stable (does not move around) as the base of the cup holder mount has rubber fins to keep it in place and the bottom is weighted. It also does not interfere with shifting the 6MT. |

All I saw were vent mounts and headrest mounts. I doubt the headrest mounts will work with the F80/82 and I am not a fan of vent mounts because I need all the AC airflow I can get in Florida, but certainly nice craftsmanship.

I really like the look of the Kuda Mounting Base. I wonder how closely it would match the black leather trim of the M3. Also I note that they say this fits the F82 M4, but I assume there are no differences between the F80 M3 and the F82 M4 at this particular point on the dash. Great find! I may have to look at this to get my cup holder back.

Pictures of my Kuda phone with Scosche magnetic mount installed. Like others have said it looks a little off color in pictures but in person matches the black interior perfectly. Last edited by Mr. Hankey; 07-09-2015 at 08:22 AM.. |

Kuda sells one that's advertised for F32 and F82. Also thanks for the photos and the description, I just ordered a Kuda mount and a Scosche mount!

+1 I have them in all my cars, very strong and convenient. Only drawback is if you like the clean look of the phone you have to mount the steel plate to the back of it. They easily fit under snap on and life proof cases though.

My experience with 3M sticky tape that they use though is that with heat cycling and the weight of the phone it eventually falls off (anywhere from 3-6 months or so)...so I drilled through the scosche mount (you will see where in the center if you remove the rubber cover), mounted it with the sticky tape to the kuda, then used a small screw into the Kuda to make sure that puppy stays....also the kuda is hollow and is a perfect place to put slack USB cable wire - I have a 12V adapter plugged in under the glovebox and overall a nice setup that looks "stock-ish." And a non-destructive install to boot. Last edited by Mr. Hankey; 07-10-2015 at 10:59 AM.. |

I am a big Waze user as well, and I absolutely love my Belkin iphone 6+ cupholder mount. Actually something good to put in those cupholders!
I usually keep it vertical, like shown, but it can easily swivel sideways as well. All depends on what you like....it's very stable and secure.
