Beware when washing your car...

I found out yesterday that garden hose + key in pocket while rinsing back of car can lead to auto trunk release. Hose fooled sensor into opening trunk. Thank goodness for warning lights...

You should also irrigate the LSD wiper wells as they will just pool up water. The correct side drive wells are irrigated so they don't hold water but the wrong side drive wells that aren't used just pool up with alot of water. Not sure why they didn't put holes in there for us since they aren't being used.

Oh and by the way, how do you lift the wipers without scratching the edge of the hood??? I ripped my clearbra during my first wash. So pissed. The e90 didnt have this issue.

I remember hearing that if you press the stalk in a certain pattern, it will stop the blades in the vertical position allowing you to flip them up.

Sadly can't remember the pattern. I vaguely remember the 5 series having a similar feature?

It's covered on the forum somewhere. Just put some time in and search around.

In my f10, shut off car. Before you open the door press and hold the wiper stalk up until it moves to vertical.

I did this while wand washing my car during ED! The trunk opened while I was washing the back of the car, and every time the water went over the front door handles, the Comfort Access would constantly lock/unlock the doors. What is everyone else doing to prevent this? I can't see myself throwing the key away as far as possible in a public wash bay....

This puzzles me as well and I haven't found an answer. I'm driving a 528i loaner right now and it has the same issue

I can't use a public wash.

I have all the detailing tools I need, and I prefer it that way.

Press the wiper stalk up past the resistance point and hold for three seconds so the wipers stop in the center (service position). It's all in the manual.

This likely holds true on DIY oil changes as well, found out the hard way on my 335i w CA that when the key is local, the engine primes itself to start and the oil is under pressure, loosened the drain plug and 50psi hot Mobil 1 everywhere. So awesome.

Leave the key in the cup holder. CA should be disabled.

How about the trunk lock feature in the glovebox, maybe if you lock it CA would be disabled?
