reduced power

Has anyone experienced the car having a lot less power?
My m4 has 900 miles on it, and falls flat on it's face after 4k rpm. Not nearly the pull it had originally, it feels like the boost has been turned down.

Your saying it has a lot less power than it did initially. If your sure this is not in your head, I'd take it in to be looked at. Mine has 400 miles on it and pulls hard up to 5500-6000rpm which were I shift for now until broken in.

Shift sooner in the sweet spot of the torque curve. If you're coming from an E9X, you will need to learn to drive the car differently. You no longer have to rev the piss out of your car to get it to move.

The RPM needs to be kept above 5500RPM in the next gear to maximize acceleration, so you need to shift at or close to 7300RPM to maximize acceleration in third gear and up. Redline shifts are still required in 1st and second.

Some early cars had hoses bust that might cause this.

Yes -- similar to N54 issues. Have dealer check hose and hose clamps.

I spoke to my service advisor... He suggested disconnecting the battery. I did this and the car feels completely normal again. Maybe it is all in my head 🌀

as a long-time computer geek, this sounds like some control unit required some sort of reset. or, it was all in your head. basically this describes my job for the last 20 years

Sorry to bump this up again. But ironically I just experienced the same reduced power issue. No CEL and my car is stock with 900 miles as well. I checked the I/C hoses and they look fine.

I know it's not in my head. The original poster said that disconnecting the battery fixed the issue. Wonder why that would fix it? I'm up for my service soon so will have the dealer check it. But I'm open to any ideas?

Reduced Power

One suggestion...I might have the service team check the turbo inlet pipe (tube). In addition to hoses that are not connected properly, a faulty turbo inlet tube could cause some of the reduced power issues. I've had some significant engine issues with my M4 (July build) which included overall sluggishness in addition to throwing off "lean mixture" fault codes. I've had several trips to the service department which included reconnecting the hoses, updating the software, replacing one (1) of the turbo inlet pipes and now we will be replacing the cylinder head and fuel pumps. In my particular situation, we really don't know yet what the root cause is relative to the fault codes and overall engine sluggishness BUT there are some things that you may want to have the service team look at during the diagnostic stage (i.e. hoses, turbo inlet pipes, fuel pumps, etc.) Hope this helps!

Taimur,
Any luck? Mine has stopped this feeling for the most part, however sometimes I really do wonder why it feels like it's pulling like my old 335i. Sometimes when I get on it it really goes and other times it feels like it never hits full boost.

JLBAB, thanks for the input I am going to have them look into it next time the car is in.

I know my statement above is a little conjumbled.... In all honesty I've only put 1900 miles on the car in 7 months. Maybe I just need to get to drive the car to get a real fair assessment.

Thanks guys,

Matt

Matt,
I haven't taken it for service yet. The snow in the north east is not helping. Will post back here once completed.

After you guys pull your battery for a reset, drive your car hard to let the Ecu relearn your driving style.

could be way off but are you driving with MSD on (or whatever the initials are)? It could be the wheels are slipping and the car is cutting the power? I know when I drive with it off the car is a totally different animal. With it on it kills the power frequently

could be way off!! just throwing it out there
