OK, slightly off topic, but given the story,I though it best to highlight it in the main section.

Concerns an Audi, but it could quite easily have been a Beemer.

Just be on your guard and careful.

Frightening stuff. That's why I like the auto locking on the e90's. I've had someone try to get into my car before (road rage moron) and I was glad then that the doors auto lock.

Same here - But the rest of my family hate it and are always pulling at the doors as soon as the engine stops - must be my driving style

Terrible story - really bad news. In a sense I wished the car locked as soon as you got in and switched the engine on, rather than when you drive away. I guess if someone is shouting 'stab him' at the window you would just hand the keys over right away though.

I really feel bad... I think that crimes done against a person/their homes/cars should be the worse crimes punished...
I am all for cruel and unusual punishment for such people... there is NO excuse for doing that to someone... the emotional trauma, forget the financial...
these people shouldn't get a cozy cell, they should be subdued to being human lab rats... infused with all sorts of disease so that some good can come out of them for mankind...

might seem a little extreme... but I really have no sympathy for what happens to them... I take some comfort in knowing Karma will get them...

I hate injustice with a passion...

Any Indy with autologic can program this for you. It can be set at 0, 5 or 10 mph.

This particular RS4 was taken not too far from me. I know one of the firearms officers who looks after that "patch".

The RS4, in either saloon or avant guise is the current weapon of choice. Thieves are aware of the ability of the vehicle and steal them accordingly.

For the kind of "work" that these gangs do, you're much more likely to have an RS4 stolen than an E92 M3. How quickly can 4 big lads with base ball bats get in and out of an E92 M3? When the E90 M3 arrives, expect to see some of them go missing. HOWEVER, they will not be as popular as the RS4 because they're not as forgiving in the heat of the moment.

I was thinking about an RS4 as my next car, but have been advised against it, as it would live on the drive. It would only be a matter of time.......

Sad times we live in really.

Not a nice story, people who work hard to afford nice things shouldn't have to worry about being put in danger like this

Perhaps an immobliser with the gas chamber option should be a suitable punishment.

A very sad story indeed. In Birmingham, about 2 years ago, there were a series of high profile armed car hijackings. In one instance, the theives rushed off with a BMW with a toddler still fastened in the rear of the car!!!

In the UK, car crime generally is very mildly punished. Until more harsher jail sentences are introduced, there is no effective deterrent for such gangs. Crimes against fellow citizens attract feeble sentences, whereas crimes against the machinery of the state (like not paying your tax) can get you in jail!!!!

My father found out only the other week, that after summer 06 when his 535d M-Sport was carjacked, subsequently found 2 months later 2 miles from where it was taken in bits with 4 other stolen BMW's that the guys caught RED HANDED with them got off in court and are free to continue their illegal ringing operation.

Too true Crimson. At least the guy gave up the keys and got out of the situation uninjured. It does make you wonder though, and that these scum of the earth types would put your family at risk to get a bloody car just makes me
