Alignment issue

Since I took delivery of my new F80 so far I've only put in a little over 200 miles on the clock and the first thing I notice when I drove on the freeway my car would veer to the right when I let go of my steering wheel. It doesn't matter if I'm in the left lane, middle or right lane it would still go to the right and I would need to apply a slight pressure to keep it straight.

Anybody else might be having this issue? I already talked with my dealer and they will warranty it as long as I'm under 2000 miles but they would have to make sure that something is off before they would take it in so here I am wondering if anybody else might be in the same shoes as me.

Most cars do not get alignment from factory. The components are installed in a way that is close to specs, but they are not actually aligned precisely. That is generally the first thing I ask the dealer to do before taking delivery. So, just get an alignment and there shouldn't be an issue.

Mine does. It did it when it was brand new, and it did it after i aligned it on h&r springs. The front camber is off from left to right and there is no front camber adjustment from what i'm told. The right side of my car has slightly more camber then the left, so that causes the pull. If i figure something out I will be sure to share. Also, something quick you can try is swapping your front wheels left to right and see if it's a tire pull issue...but my money is on the camber being off.

Maybe correct all four tires and see if it solves the problem. That doesn't sound good,I still remember my new 3series would go straight hands free on the freeway lol

That's kinda odd how they don't make sure the alignment is good. Very disappointed on a 62k car.

Thank you for that! Glad I'm not the only one who's experiencing this issue although I do wish everybody's else's car doesn't have that issue.

I'm going to give that a try this weekend, thanks for the advice!

The pressure on all 4 tires are the same so it's not that thanks to our on board TPMS which reads PSI.

I agree, it doesn't sound good and will do my best to get to the bottom of this.

It has nothing to do with the price of the car; $200K Porsche, Ferrari or Aston won't have alignment either Assembly process takes into account the alignment and it comes close 'enough.' Especially if the geometry is non-adjustable, like this car (very disappointing), there is no need for alignment. I wonder how the toe and caster are set

Thanks for the insight! I'll update once I can bring it in and find out how off it is.

I'd be interested too. Just checked mine. It's actually pretty good. Way better than the 2006 Corvette when I got it new.

Same issue here since delivery and I brought it up to my SA attention when I went in for break in service. They had the car for a whole week trying to realign and get it to track straight but no luck. They also test drove another M4 on the lot and have the same issue. A field engineer will be out next week, so I guess we'll see what he have to say...

Wow!

By any chance do you remember which wheel that M4 has and yours too please! Seems like a few are having issues with 18's.

I was a little surprised too. Interested to see what the spec limits on the alignments are. Corvette specs were ridiculously wide open and they still didn't meet those.

If you watch the video below from BMW Spartanburg starting at 9:15 stop the video and you will notice a lower assembly service area (below the vehicle like Jiffy Lube). Then start the video you will see the upper assembly technician completing the fog & headlight alignment. Most important to this discussion notice that there is a lower technician adjusting the front toe-in while the wheels are rolling. At about 10:07 you will notice that at each wheel there is a series of flashing lights at the end of the wheel alignment process. When the X3 rolls away you will see the four wheel alignment stations with rollers. The alignment process happens so fast because of the equipment and the pre-assembled parts are a close match to the specs. Only a quick adjustment is needed and is almost not noticed by the casual observer. Modern vehicles are very accurately aligned near the end of assembly.

I have the same issue, finally brought it down today for a test drive with the shop foreman. Gave me the whole story about how it's kinda normal. After the drive though he did admit it seemed a little off. Its going in Oct. 8 to get realigned. Keep me posted on how yours turned out.

Please get a print out or a phone pic of final alignment numbers if you can, really curious as to what the numbers will look like. Thank you.
