RFT!
Not sure if you chaps have seen this before, thought its worth a look.
Kind of shows RFT works - might not flash at you on the dash though! http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2007/10...flat-tire.html

Bit confused as to how it shows they kind of work? I can't find the detail on what kind of tyres he had fitted? RFT or Non?
"After hearing a loud bang from the right side, the car went out of control spinning sideways at 140 km/h or 87 mph. It hit the roadside barrier several times before flipping over two times and coming to a halt" If this is RFT working - whats the point in having them?

Runflats of not, there not designed to prevent a complete failure of the tyre, which it does mention in the handbook, their designed to get you home or to a garage without the need to change wheels on the roadside.

Pretty sure the "M" Series do not run on runflats anyway.

Why do they have to keep ruining perfectly good tyre's, they could just let the air out by removing the valve core.

None of the M cars use runflats - they are all specced on Pilot Sport 2s or Conti SportContact3s (and an M mobility kit in the back)

No wonder there's a shortage of the tyres with all the daft TV "presenters" poking holes in them.

The body structure stood up very well though to an armco liason and a couple of flips, confirmed by the fact that the guy and his daughter walked away unhurt (although it may have been a strange and smelly walk).
The time interval between having a blow out and the resulting loss of control wouild have been very quick and I'm not surprised the driver wouldn't have seen the TPM warning. Had the car had run flats he may not have been looking for a new car. Regards Chris
