Dealership quote for CCC replacement..
so...recently my idrive on my 06 325i compleately failed, no screen, no sound, no alarms or seatbelt, door chimes...nothing. As i have read this is a common issue on this model. I called BMW NA and they could not offer any assistance, long story short after the diagnose from the dealer they said the CCC was bad and it needed replacement. total qoute was $1,300 + tax. 3hrs+of labor and if it still did not work any other additional parts or service would be additional. question is...Im i being quoted correctly? im i being ripped off? or should i get a second opinion. Thank you guys in advance. it really sucks not having a functioning CCC. thanks again for any advice or thoughts.

yeah i was also looking into the CIC, just seems really complicated when it comes down to the coding. lets see what happens, if anyone in the Chicago area could offer assistance it would be greatly appreciated.

I had my CCC replaced at my dealership for $1100 OTD. You're being ripped off.
Just remember if you do go CIC, your dealership won't be able to diagnose your car. |

i replaced mine from Bavarian Auto for $150.00.
it is not on their website, you just need to email them about it. BMW charged me 1 hr in labor. http://www.bavauto.com/shop.asp |

I bought a rebuilt BMW CCC from getbmwparts.com for US$730 and had a local BMW independent shop that does coding replace it and code the unit (which is why you cannot do it yourself) for CDN $350. They did a great job. needed the car for a full day. New CCC works great. All in, roughly $1100 parts and labour.
My local BMW dealers are idiots and would have charged me over $2500. They are sloppy, careless, stupid and dishonest, probably the same as your experience. |

Many CCC units for sale here on the private used-for sale forums, I've seen them go for 250$ or so. I'd sell mine but rather keep it if ever i decide to sell the car.
I did the cic retro on my 2006 325xi and highly recommend it. Yes, it costs easily 1500$ for the basic setup but it really upgrades the 06 to the new generation.. its worth every penny. new screen - 400$ new radio - 500$ your current i-drive controller can remain the same Plus about 200$ of cables, usb ports and cables The rest is plug and play, but a simple coding is needed to set it to your car.
