Coming from a few select Japanese manuals I was really disappointed with the long throws of my E92's manual. Had the short shifter installed and it's literally like a different car. make sure you get a shorter weighted knob. The UUC will allow you to adjust the shifter height and my E92 now rivals my wife's MX-5.
Great for pure driving enjoyment. Change the "lifetime fill" manual tranny fluid while you are getting it done. If you like "snick, snick shifts then the UUC short throw kit will get you as close to transmission nirvana as you can get outside a rice burner. |

On my last two MT BMW's (e30 and e36 M3) I had short throw shifters.
Current car has paddles, otherwise would have gotten same treatment. YMMV but I like the precise, notchy feel of a short shifter.

The dssr is a very small rod for n54 ( if thats what you have)
The UUC one was listed to have some fitment issues waaay back. How about you look into AKG motorsport DTM rod ( their DSSR)

I'm having second thoughts about uuc after reading about customer service issues and long shipping times.
Rogue engineering doesn't make one for e92 anymore. I'm also considering the bmw ssk. |

"Genuine BMW Performance Short Shift Lever Upgrade your stock shifter to this OEM BMW Short Shift Lever taken from the BMW Performance short shift kit! Or should we look elsewhere like a UUC (http://www.bavauto.com/shop.asp). |

BMS has a short shifter for $129... I have not heard much feedback on it, but its not a very complicated part, so I'm sure its worth $129.

Can't believe everything you read. I've had a B&M in my car since day 2. Works great and haven't had a lick of problems

There are actually a lot of people running our shifter. The reviews have been great and in the 4+ years that we've been making the shifter, we've only had 1 return.

I'm seeing the UUC one for $355 on their website and the BMW for $185 on ECS. The BMW one comes with the BMW Performance shift knob and alcantara shift boot also.
Is the UUC one cheaper somewhere else? It does look like the UUC one is a bigger upgrade than the BMW one. I'm just wondering if it is worth the price difference.

I have had my UUC shifter for 4 yrs and i am still real happy. Short throw. I paid 355.00 to. Those guys race BMW's on a track in Alpharetta GA near their shop I think. They seem to be in touch with the car more so than others i have purchased parts from.

I'm leaning towards the UUC with the DSSR. It seems to have overall positive reviews. Last thing I wanna do is go OEM and not notice that much of a change. Go all the way or go home. |
