Great review for the M4 - yet again. My car has just docked in Sydney....the next few days until it arrives are going to feel like an eternity!

That was an awesome review. I lived in Holland for 15 years so understood the language.

Basically saying the M4's class comes through when you push it hard, whereas the Jag shines until you push it hard and the chassis can't keep up.

I went to the American School of the Hague from 8-12th grade myself in the late 80s/early 90s. Some of the best days of my life.

And great review for the M4, "This car isn't just good, it is amazing."

We sure are seeing a lot of Austin Yellow M4's. Funny, I was in Austin, Texas last week and can't figure out why that name was chosen.

Sometimes they're named after the predominant color on an F1 race track (YMB named after the Abu Dubai track and its use of blue or the Sakhir track in Bahrain and it's use of orange/red). The Circuit of the Americas doesn't really use yellow so who knows ha.

But wait. Isn't the F Type S a heavy little booger with only 380 hp? The F Type V8 S with 495 hp with be a more entertaining comparison. IMHO.

Still cool to watch. Thanks

Are you talking about the F Type R with the 550hp Supercharged V8?

Last comparo I saw with the F Type R was against a Porsche 991 TT.

True, but the 425 hp BMW splits the difference between the Jag's V6-S and V8-S engine outputs. Haven't had a chance to form my own opinion, but I've read in a few places that the V6-S may be more fun to drive given weight distribution and engine not overwhelming the chassis as much.

However, the real reason for the comparison is likely cost: Base price of the V6-S at $77,000 is already sig more than the base price of the F8X (M3 $62K, M4 $64.2K)...the base price of the V8-S is $99,000...

Naw. That wouldn't be fair to the
M4. The R is more M6 or GT-R territory. The one I was referring to is the convertible V8 with 495 hp.

I'm sorry but I'd take the M4 any day over the yagwar

Aston is the only way to go with the "coupe" British type car

And yes the R would be a better comparo

If I had a lot of money, I would take the F-type for how it looks and for its exclusivity. I think it looks better than the competing Porsche models.

If I were to get the better car and most bang for the buck, the M4 is a no-brainer.

This. Couldn't really care less about the Jag.

Hey, does Gustav still do his straight line accel comparo videos or was that long over? I used to remember a couple from way long ago.

Really enjoyed that review. Even with the translation, it felt like the reviewer was able to articulate the reasons for his decision really well.

I have to say, the F Type R is damn good looking. I saw one up close a few times in my parking garage and the car looks pretty mean (especially in white with the glass roof). And the sound....right up there with Maserati or Ferrari...just sounds sick.

I understand the language 100 % !
So in a few words what the man was saying is...
Especially for my American buddies...

"The Jag"
The + points....
Looks amazing and very sporty .
Sounds realy brutal and refined like a real sports car ,even when only 6 cyl.engine .
ZF-Transmission works perfect and shifts are fast, but slower than a double clutch.
Respons of engine is very good with the Super Charger and don't need to breath like most of the turbo engines .
Steering feel is good , because hydraulic .

The - points...
Most of it was about the ballance and chassis .
When driving uphill and turn in when on the throttle the car breakes loose .
In the same situation but with some slight bumps on the road makes the car feeling very unsecure ,the feeling of stability is gone .
All this is making the car sadly tricky.

"The ///M4"
The + points....
Even when it not looks like a true sports car it shows for what it is intended, and looks brutal .
On the road it feels secure and that all the time ,trust is everywhere .
Balance of the car is perfect .
It is very fast and to find a competitor you need a 911 .
Throttle respons is very good for a turbo engine ,torque is huge and everywhere and when pushed to the limit there you can feel it's better than the Jag.
This ///M4 is not good but overwhelming .

The - points...
Looks of the Jag are better, because sports car .
The previous V8 engine had better throttle respons because real race genes with high rpm's .
When realy pushed in higher rpm's engine sounds like it is going to explode .
Sound is loud but without soul ,sounds like nothing and actualy not good .

Do you realize that the M4 has a faster nurburgring lap time than the M6? Horsepower isn't everything when it comes to track performance.

While I haven't seen a nurburgring lap time for the F type R yet, I wouldn't assume that it is faster than the M4 around a track simply because of the horsepower disparity.

Good god who gives a shit about ring times when 9/10s of the general population couldn't crack 10 mins with a M4, let alone anything else. How many people but a car this price to only track it? I didn't think so. I've come to respect the F80 because it does the daily grind so damn well and offers fun drives to work or on the track.
But to me that's where it ends. The f type to ME (again this stuff is subjective) is far more beautiful, visceral and desirable. Something about those lines with a well built positive displacement boosted engine with that interior is a ace in the hole.
I track drive, but I'm not sold soley on acceleration, horsepower and lap times. The M4 is incredible at most things, and anyone who knows my post history knows I've bashed them before, but I've came around. In my opinion the F Type is the Rolex whereas the M4 is the Tissot. Both great at tons of things, one is just finer.
