Took a little ride down to Mexico with @///M ARMY tonight.
Got to see his Black F80 and it was gorgeoussss! Nice work man. I also like the sound of the ER DPs. Tons of turbo noise to hear with it. Anyway, parties involved tonight were: New 5.0- unknown mods C5 Z06- unknown mods E82 135i- JB4, Charge pipes, E45 fuel, muffler delete, and Stage 1 Pure Turbo turbo upgrade F80 M3- DPs Terminator- tons of mods/bigger pulley etc. VT2-625 E92 6MT I was running basic JB4 Map 1 on a 6MT M4. Had no experience against anything but the 135, Terminator, and the S/C E92 so I will speak to that. 1. 135 was a beast. Rocket out of the gates with the torque, but the M4 reeled it in easily. If I am not mistaken, it was very close races between it and the F80 w/ DPs. 2. Terminator- Car was a monster. Unknown power levels but owner suggested 450-460 wtq at least. Pulled it pretty hard in the M4 on first race and was door to door on second race with the Stang ahead by ~1/2 car. 3. VT2-625 6MT- Still a freaking beast and had amazing S/C whine. Race 1, was almost from a dig and M4 took it by maybe a car length. Race 2, 2nd gear roll, door to door with the E92 (maybe even slight edge to the M4) Race 3, 2nd gear but higher RPM range for the E92 and it took the M4 by maybe a car length. As speeds got up there, the E92 definitely shined brighter than the F82. Thoughts: vs. Cars 2 and 3 i definitely had some DSC intervention (Euro MDM mode the whole time) but I wouldn't make any complants or claim that it would have made a huge difference. The VT2-625 pulls HARD up top as some have envisioned, but the M4 was no slacker today. Also, as @Roman@ESS has stated...it's all about the powerband. When starting in the powerband, the F82 gets beat, period. When not, it's a driver's race. One thing I wonder is if heat soak played a role in any of them. I did a lot of back to back pulls. Cant wait to add some E85 to the mixture and more aggressive tuning. Anyway, I'm exhausted. More to follow tomorrow. @///M ARMY can chime in and tell me how his car performed/what he saw tonight. Good to meet you again man! Love your car.

Amplifying info: 135 was also DCT. Runs were almost all 2nd gear pulls.

also, very surprised about the 625 kit result to say the least.....seems like that should have been a walk away victory for the 625 |

When I raced a JB4 1M with my manual VT1-535 stock cats, it was a very tight race until I get to the very end of 3rd gear, after that I started pulling on him like it was nothing, probably a similar race then the JB4 M4 vs VT625 but on a smaller scale! |

To be clear... if 135 was a DCT, then it was an N55... that would b the slower one. Also, what is a stg1 pure turbo lol?

Ok got it, thats actually a stock replacement albeit with an upgraded compressor wheel. Apparently low 400s in the whp range.

What I found on the street with my DCT 585 kit, is that you really have to be "ready to race" in order to beat torquey cars. Right gear, right RPM, punch it at the same time.
If you're off, you'll play catch up to 60-80, which is already illegal road speeds. I welcome the torque and I'm happy that your car performed well! Keep us updated! |

I've ran a stock DCT F10 M5 when I had just a VT1-535 and stock cats and it was dead even from about 60-200km/h so I'm sure a catless DCT VT1-550 would have walked him easily, not exactly sure how your car compare to a stock DCT M5 but I would guess that you are just a bit faster! BTW, what was the exact set-up of your friend with the VT2-625, fuel, exhaust!? |

The runs with the tuned 135i was a good run. For the three runs that we did, I had him by 1 car length. I was unaware of how the car would have preformed against it. Your car did amazing on the Terminator. I had the terminator right off the line on the two runs that we did and the power kept on coming. I am going to run something different next time to see how it does with 50/50. Thanks for the help. We will be meeting up again soon. Hopefully at buttonwillow on Sunday.

this is where the video would have been nice, its a pretty fair match up IMO. there really wasnt much of a pull on either side once we hit it, who ever got out in front stayed there. either way your car is still untuned and will blow the lid off of mine when it does get tuned. wish i could have gotten some runs in with the termi

I couldnt believe the results against the Terminator. I thought it would end differently tbh. His car sounded ferocious. Let me know how Friday goes and then we might have to go back down to mexico sometime! I dont think im going this weekend because the GF deserves some much needed time. She's been putting up with my shit now for 5 straight months.

I got my GoPro back in business. It was my phone causing the issue with the GoPro app. I also need to find my big memory card. That little one wont cut it if we get that many cars again.

lol either way that was fun and a very close matchup. I think me and you were the only ones sketched racing there. your car will be beast mode with the dct when you get the jb4 all dialed in! did you ever get any runs in with the e92 m3? or the termi? how did it go?

I ran against the terminator i think 3 times. The first ran I had him be 1/2 car length. 2 and 3 runs he missed a gear he said. But after that I was done. I didn't run against e92 m3. I wanted to but that road wasn't promising. I think with the jb4 the car will do better. On friday i will be installing the jb4. I talked to ER, they have a intercooler for your car that will help it run better.

I will be using it on the way up to buttonwillow. There is a C7 that will be going up there with me. Let me know when the next Mexico run is. The JB4 will be on.
