Other than the stock F 225/40/18 & R 245/35/18..can I run 225/40 on all 4 wheels

Thx

Yes, 225's are OK on up to 9" wide wheels according to the Tire rack spec page. The 235 wheels are 8" wide rears. That's exactly what I am going to do. In fact, I have a set of 8.5" wheels from a 135 that I'm going to use.

I have 225/40/18 both front and rear on staggered oem set of alloys - no problem.

If you're going to be running the same widths front and rear, it would actually be best to run the same profile as well, especially considering the rear tire will have to stretch a tad more (not much) to go over a wider wheel (8", compared to the 7.5" fronts). So a 225/40 setup front and rear. I'm not sure on how well a 45 profile wheel would work with the fender-space on the F22, but you could always run a 17" wheel with the 225/45 size, if you're worried.

For comparison purposes, the E90 wheels that were stock on my sport package 335i were 8" in the front and came with 225/40 and they weren't stretched at all. So it definitely won't have the stretched look on 8 inches. At 8.5" is where it started to really be obvious there was stretching.

No, no, no, that's not what I'm insinuating at all, haha. I'm not talking about how it looks or saying that it will have a "stretched look". All tires stretch to fit the wheel. All I'm saying is that the 225 will have to stretch more to fit over the 8" wide wheel in the rear than it will to fit over the 7.5" wide wheel in the front. So him keeping the 35 profile for the rears is actually worse than going with a square 40 profile all around, if he's going with a square 225 setup all around.

And for the record, my '08 350z came stock with 225/45 tires on 18x8 fronts and 245/45 tires on 18x8.5 rears.

Agreed on all points

I'm likely to do 225/40 square for winter. I'm tempted to just do the stock 245/35 in rears but that size is tough to find and the only one I see out there is a Pirelli run-flat.

@five3three Same here. I'm contemplating doing 225/40 and 245/35 or 245/40 in the rear for winter. But I think I'll probably go with 225/40 in the long run. Make things easier. Plus, it's just two months out of the year, haha.

@ska///235i No problem!

245/35 has the same outer diameter as 225/40, so use the 225/40 all around. A 225/35 will be smaller in diameter than a 245/35.
