PCD to NOVA Recommenations?

If you saw the movie "Almost Famous" and remember at the very beginning when the groupies ("band aids") were meeting up for the concert, one girl giggled to the other, "it's all happening!"

That's what I feel like right now. Now that my 2015 F80 SO/BLK just completed production and is making its way to port.

I elected to do performance center delivery and am scheduled for 9/25. Not excited about my car sitting in SC for a month but, alas, that's they way it works out. I will fly down Wednesday evening with delivery/driving/tours, scheduled for Thursday.

My goal is to be back in Arlington by Friday afternoon (preferably before rush hour). I'm struggling to find the right route home. Many have suggested that you'll be tired after a day at the performance center and so don't try to drive too far that night. Asheville sounds great and it's relatively close to Greenville but it's heading west when I need to go east and it leaves me a 7+ hour drive Friday morning. Not too excited about that.

Any other ideas, suggestions? Ideally I'd like to adhere to the break-in recommendations and not just just sit on the highway and a constant speed/rpm. Some twists and turns would be fun.

Anyone else going down at the same time? I appreciate your suggestions.

That's a tough call man, entire day at track and then drive 8 hours home? Make a pit stop, eat some good BBQ and get some rest.

PCD is such an awesome experience, you definitely made the right decision to delay delivery. The only thing better is to do ED then PCD, but that would push the production date out further.

I've always driven straight home from the Performance Center. Pretty boring drive, but still fun until you hit traffic. I guess you can take Blue Ridge Parkway/Skyline Drive since its pretty scenic and fun when there's no cops on the road... But, there's always cops

My dad just turned 79 do I decided to invite him to do PCD with me. He was super excited. Hopefully there isn't an age max to participate!

I think we will try to head towards Blacksburg VA after the delivery. If we leave Spartanburg around 4pm I hoping we can get there around 9pm. Spend the night and then head out up 81. My plan is to pop off 81 and onto the BRP for 30-45 miles and ten back on to 81.

I'll bring a Ford magnet and slap that over the Rondel for those cops. Or just go so fast they won't see me (not likely in Sakhir a Orange!)

I flew in in the morning, only picked up the car and drove home (lived in NOVA at the time) the same day via Blue Ridge parkway. I wish I had taken the time to do the PCD "experience", but I only had one day to retrieve the car.
